To be shocked DH doesn’t wash his legs and feet in the shower?

Kissmybaubles · 08/12/2022 09:16

had to use the toilet while DH was in the shower this morning and noticed that he doesn’t actually wash his legs or feet.

I asked him about it and he said he never does, he just lets the water and soap run over them and that washes them … 🤢

A) how did I not know this about him?
and B) is this normal? Do people do this.

I wash every part of my body everyday in the shower.

AIBU?

It's definitely worse to take a dump while someone is in the shower. Absolutely disgusting.

So what are you supposed to do if you can't wait? I've never taken a dump in front of my DP, but I have a couple of times had to knock on the bathroom door and ask him to please finish his shower ASAP (or temporarily get out) so I could use the loo. Since I had my gallbladder out the urge to go often comes on suddenly and can become very urgent very quickly. If he'd literally just put shampoo on his hair and wasn't in a position to leave the shower and the urge hit, I'd have to seriously consider going in front of him. I'd rather that than soil myself.

@Wdib78 I’m not going to quote your message as it’s come out oddly but there are many countries where people wash instead of wiping and guess what, they think wiping is weird and unhygienic.

Saw someone on here once describe it by saying- what would you do if you got poo on your hand? Wipe it with a dry piece of toilet paper or wash it?

I'm aware of the custom of some countries washing with water, as it has on occasion been seen all over the floor and toilet seat and the bottle they've used left behind the toilet, however I doubt they hose their arsehole in the shower spraying particles of shit all over the bathroom, mostly invisible ones! Which is why you should put the lid down before flushing, to prevent microscopic particles flying into the air!
This person is a toilet paper user the rest of the time.
And if I got it on my hand I'd wipe with paper then wash just like anyone else, I eat with my hands not my arse.

KimberleyClark · 08/12/2022 21:32

I’m sure I read on here about a poster’s DH doing a poo in the garden rather than disturb her in the bathroom.

Moro93 · 08/12/2022 21:44

I find it weird that you didn’t know this already, have you never seen him shower before or showered together?

I don’t wash my legs and feet every time. I exfoliate every couple of showers and my whole body gets it, but in just a standard shower I focus on the parts that would otherwise get smelly. My feet don’t smell.

Blowyourowntrumpet · 08/12/2022 21:46

It's never occurred to me to wash my legs or feet in the shower. Do you lift one foot at a time? I've never had a problem with my feet smelling

milkandmint · 08/12/2022 21:50

I didn't know people watched every part of themselves every day. I have never purposefully washed my legs and I don't smell.

Yep, I lift one foot and then kind of cross it over above my opposite knee, soap foot, between toes etc then put foot back down

I actually find I don't need to shower daily because I've sort of REALLY washed with soap, I stay fresher a lot longer than if I used shower gel and no flannel

ClaraMint · 08/12/2022 21:57

It's the feet that would bother me. Fungus is highly evolved to stick to skin and will not be removed by running water. Needs soap. My ex was like this and he had a deep fungal infection of his toenails which he could never get rid of.

Soap won’t get rid of a fungal toenail infection, you need tablets from the GP for that.

Devoutspoken · 08/12/2022 22:09

I presume you have never noticed he has smelly feet which would indicate that standing under a shower of hot soapy water does the job without 'scrubbing'

ClaraMint · 08/12/2022 23:15

@kimberleyclark soap will remove opportunistic fungus, which prevents fungal nail infection setting in. Once it has taken hold, it needs proper treatment.

Yes I think good hygiene is a preventative measure to infections like this.😷

I have noticed that his feet smell, especially when he takes his trainers off. But I always assumed that he was showering everyday and that would include feet washing. I can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t wash their feet. You’re in the shower anyway using a loofah sponge to soap yourself up, why stop at your ass🤨 … like might as well wash everywhere with soap while you’re there. I just find it really strange.

I have told DH that he needs to actually start washing his feet! 🤢

This is why I'm glad most houses these days have multiple bathrooms!

Grim! 😷

I dont wash my feet (unless for an afformentioned horror like stepping in dogshit or on a slug barefoot... which is rare) and I have never had fungus or anything like that in my life.

Its nothing to do with 'washing' its to do with BREATHING... this is why I go barefoot as much as possible and never wear socks/trainers etc... because dry air is key. Fungus actually loves and thrieves in warm wet areas so dousing it down with its favorite thing won't magically stop it.

My feet also don't smell because they don't sweat because Im not bundling them up in sweety layers (unless I wore my fur lined wellies in the snow but thats only a few times a year, not for lonf and a shower rinsing fixes that fine).

Socks, shoes, soap and so on are all very unnatural additions and with them came medical side effects, while shoes do provide protection from sharp stones etc... which is handy non of them are greatly nessacery to life.

I’m not sure most do.

Washing your legs 😂

No, I do not spefically wash my legs and feet unless they are particularly dirty. as your husband says, everything gets washed as the soap and water moves down.

Actually I'd say using a loofah on your feet and then elsewhere is LOADs more disgusting. Loofahs in general are bactarial breeding grounds and super gross.

Lcb123 · 09/12/2022 11:24

Feet yes - especially if been exercising or wearing sandals. Legs don’t need washing!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 09/12/2022 11:27

I don't / can't wash my legs and feet.

It's not disgusting in the slightest

This thread is making me feel sick for many reasons 😂.

I need to unwatch.

garlictwist · 09/12/2022 11:31

I washmy legs if they're muddy from going running or something but otherwise surely the shower water is enough. It's not like they are a naturally sweaty part of the body.

But.... surely you don't just wash your hair and rely on the water and shampoo to clean the rest of your body?

Not a single reason? Not one single reason why someone doesn't wash their feet in the shower?

well, most of it yes. There are areas that I clean specifically, but your feet get some kind of wash just from moving around on the bottom of the shower I would say. Certainly that's my experience in terms of going in with (visibly) dirty feet e.g. grass stains. They come out nice and clean without specific scrubing.

Also, like I said, a loofah being used on yout feet and then all over you body is worst imo. Unless you have a specific foot one?

I wash my hair, pits and bits. That's it.
