To be shocked DH doesn’t wash his legs and feet in the shower?

Kissmybaubles · 08/12/2022 09:16

had to use the toilet while DH was in the shower this morning and noticed that he doesn’t actually wash his legs or feet.

I asked him about it and he said he never does, he just lets the water and soap run over them and that washes them … 🤢

A) how did I not know this about him?
and B) is this normal? Do people do this.

I wash every part of my body everyday in the shower.

AIBU?

How long does it take to pee? For the whole duration of a shower?

DesertIslandCondiment · 08/12/2022 09:27

This was the bit I was shocked at 😂.

Where does OP specify she is taking a dump? I'd agree, that is a line that should never be crossed.

SillySausage81 · 08/12/2022 10:15

Why would you need to wash your legs? Unless they've got muddy or something, they're not actually dirty. They certainly don't need a wash every day, although I don't even wash them once a week (apart from the water and suds running down them).

Feet is a different matter, I always make an effort to wash my feet and in between my toes, but I can also see the argument that they are getting clean just by being in the soapy water that pools at the bottom of the shower.

BowiesJumper · 08/12/2022 10:16

I wash/scrub my feet in the summer when I’ve been wearing sandals or open shoes. But not otherwise. I don’t have a problem with smelly feet thankfully!

Legs, only when shaving them.

Well she was obviously in there long enough to view his entire shower so what else could she be doing on the toilet?

Do you wash with a loofah? Washing your body with hands and shower gel doesn’t remove dead skin cells anyway. 🤢

Everyone washes differently.

This is why we use an exfoliating sponge.

SummaLuvin · 08/12/2022 09:26

I'd be a bit more disgusted by my partner coming in to take a dump when I was showering to be honest.

It might have been a wee.

Nothing was specified.

Thought personally, I wouldn't do either.

KimberleyClark · 08/12/2022 10:19

I exfoliate my body maybe once a year and my face never. My skin is a so,utely fine and healthy.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 08/12/2022 10:19

This is why I'm pleased our toilet is in a different room from the bath and shower. No one can judge my shower habits. Would be easier if the sink was in the same room as the toilet but alas, it's not.

Anyways, no I don't wash my legs in the shower...or the bath actually. I don't really wash anything in the bath, just soak in the bubbles. Will usually have a shower the next morning however.

I do dry brush my legs and arms before I hop in the shower though to remove the dead skin.

loislovesstewie · 08/12/2022 10:19

I do use a shower puff over all of me, though.

minipie · 08/12/2022 10:10

If I use shower gel on my arms and legs, I get dry skin.

Those who wash their limbs - do you then need to use body lotion/moisturiser?

No - but I use a moisturising shower gel or shower oil. Bioderma shower oil is fantastic, really moisturising and works great for shaving legs too

Grassisbluer · 08/12/2022 10:24

Surely most couples are OK peeing in front of one another?
God no!😱

PearlAlice · 08/12/2022 10:24

Just on the side issue of using the toilet while someone is in the shower, this is why I hate the idea of en suites. If I need a wee or a poo and anyone, anyone, is in close proximity, I'd rather hold on than emit the associated noises for all to hear. Give me a Victorian outside toilet down the end of the backyard any day!

ChristmasJumpers · 08/12/2022 10:26

Every day I wash my pits, bits and feet but don't bother with my back, belly, or legs unless I'm having a hair washing/leg shaving shower (every 2-3 days). I couldn't not wash the soles of my feet but mine do tend to start to smell!

We are.

DesertIslandCondiment · 08/12/2022 10:27

I'm no prude but when I'm in the shower I like to have a bit of privacy.

DH can some in and brush his teeth but I'd be annoyed if he stood staring at my cleaning and shaving techniques.

We've got a 1950s setup where the toilet and the shower/bath/sink are in different rooms , but then the old owners also added on an en-suite to our room with no toilet and a downstairs toilet (no room for a sink, kind of like a toilet in a cupboard). So depending on where the other people in the house are, we have randomly placed toilets to chose from!
Does mean we walk around like surgeons scrubbed in for surgery until we can find a sink.

Elsiebear90 · 08/12/2022 10:31

I wash the tops of my legs between my thighs because I feel like sometimes that area can get a bit sweaty, especially in the summer, but I don’t bother with the bottoms or backs of my legs and feet unless they are dirty.

lookersnoopy · 08/12/2022 10:32

Confused.

If OP was in the toilet long enough to observe his whole shower she either:

A. Went for a shit, absolutely disgusting.

B. Went for a wee, he must shower quickly, she should have waited.

Surely most couples are OK peeing in front of one another?

Absolutely not. My toilet habits are very private.

Stressedmum2017 · 08/12/2022 10:35

Well if op was on the toilet long enough to witness her dhs entire shower I'm gonna guess it were a number 2...in which case op is the gross one out of the two. If I had a partner critiquing my hygiene whilst lookin me dead in the eye and straining one out, I would be re-evaluating some things.
Fwiw I wash legs and feet every day.

Abeachsomewhere · 08/12/2022 10:35

I’m shocked at how many people think it’s ok not to wash their legs and feet! I shower every other day but that shower is very thorough - I wash my hair and everything gets a scrub with a puff and shower gel. I just wouldn’t feel clean otherwise. I know some will say in response to this that I should be showering everyday, but I wonder what is better - an incomplete wash every day or a really good clean and scrub all over my body every other day?! 🤔

X2Kids · 08/12/2022 10:39

😂😂😂😂

The replies on this thread have given me a much needed laugh today.

OP just to clarify were you doing a number 1 or number 2 whilst examining DH washing methods?
😂😂

user14728311998 · 08/12/2022 10:42

I don't actively wash my legs, feet or back in the shower. Not sure why, just never have!

LuciferRising · 08/12/2022 10:46

Surely most couples are OK peeing in front of one another?

When I was younger and thought it was cool and 'earthy' to pee in front of a partner. Not so much now unless a necessity.

xogossipgirlxo · 08/12/2022 10:46

Gosh, can you imagine the rate of accidents in the tub if people started washing their feet there. I do it, but I'm quite flexible and have no problems keeping my balance. I can't imagine my husband doing it with his long legs and less stretched muscles. Would end up in ambulance after first attempt. Let him be. You had no idea until now, so clearly smell of his feet never bothered you, which is fine.
