To be shocked DH doesn’t wash his legs and feet in the shower?

Kissmybaubles · 08/12/2022 09:16

had to use the toilet while DH was in the shower this morning and noticed that he doesn’t actually wash his legs or feet.

I asked him about it and he said he never does, he just lets the water and soap run over them and that washes them … 🤢

A) how did I not know this about him?
and B) is this normal? Do people do this.

I wash every part of my body everyday in the shower.

AIBU?

Do his legs get dirty? Like he has just played rugby?
Otherwise no, I don't think they need more than just showering.

I use soap on pits and cleanser on face but otherwise everything else just gets rinsed. It's not good to put soap on your bits.

It's fine, I'm just bummed it doesn't bother you.Does he clean the tub/shower after himself? I'd kill my husband for doing so 😂

He washes the shower in the same way I wash my legs and feet haha. He sprays the bathroom cleaner into the bath and rinses it away but doesn't scrub IYKWIM. He is always the last of us to shower for the day.

JinglingXmasbells · 08/12/2022 11:41

OP said she had to use the toilet.

She didn't say she had a poo.

BellePeppa · 08/12/2022 11:56

I think you’re more yuck using the toilet in front of him. What a passion killer 😬

Must've been a bloody long wee then if she was able to observe his entire shower

MyPenIsHuge · 08/12/2022 14:29

I have exceptionally dry skin. Only smelly bits or visible dirt gets any sort of cleaner on. The rest only gets whatever runs off.

Ah I see. Well at least he does something to clean it, so you're fine 😅

When you have to go you have to go…

Not as bad as when DH uses the toilet when I’m brushing my teeth.

And I can’t believe how many people don’t was their feet 😱

Are you sure that you were "shocked" and not just mildly surprised?

Looneytune253 · 08/12/2022 15:01

I only really wash pits and bits in the shower. The rest just gets what the water hits etc. defo wouldn't be using the loo when partner was in shower tho that's more grim than the rest lol

NippyWoowoo · 08/12/2022 15:10

SummaLuvin · 08/12/2022 09:26

I'd be a bit more disgusted by my partner coming in to take a dump when I was showering to be honest.

This. I've never needed to use the toilet when someone was showering.

It's definitely worse to take a dump while someone is in the shower. Absolutely disgusting.

Wdib78 · 08/12/2022 11:14

I can beat this.

Someone I used to work with thought it was acceptable that if he went for a poo and was going in the shower straight after, he didn't need to wipe he just hosed himself off in the shower 🤢

He didn't understand why everyone was horrified.

Someone whispered to me afterwards "that explains his smell then" 😷

Except that in many cultures, hosing down is exactly what they do Confused

It shouldn't smell either, if using soap and water

So OP hasn't denied it was a poo...

gogohmm · 08/12/2022 15:26

My legs get a full wash at the weekend when I shave them otherwise it is a case of the water running down (unless I've got muddy or something) my feet get a good wash standing in the poorly draining tray - I specifically wash them and loofah the bank of my ankles at the week on shaving day.

Honestly compared to a generation ago we are so clean today - we bathed twice a week max as kids and teens

Same!! 😱

Why does it bother you so much? Do you need to sniff people's feet for living?

Saltywalruss · 08/12/2022 15:56

I think there might be some kind of link between this thread and the one about thinking it's wrong to ask people to take their shoes off when they come to visit.....

exactly... once a week in shared bathwater was pretty common for most of the 19th and 20th century and far less was common before then.

I mean even as kids in the 90s it was common to share baths/bath water and only wash once or twice a week... where has the unhealthy obsession with people scrubbing themselves daily even come from in the last decade or so.

Scurryfunge12 · 08/12/2022 17:15

If you haven’t noticed before then presumably they don’t smell or look dirty so I don’t know why this matters? It’s only the same as your back? A lot don’t wash their back as it’s hard to reach so they just let soap and water trickle down.

It’s your smelly sweaty bits that count really.

His feet do smell though … And now I know why, I expect a lot of mumsnetters might also have cheesey feet if they are not washing them 😷

It doesn't always depend on washing. Some people can wash their feet with soap and their feet will still smell, others may only shower every 3-4 days and their feet don't smell.

Some people smell, some people just don't.

LindorDoubleChoc · 08/12/2022 20:18

Feet are one of the smelly bits on a human. Along with armpits, under parts and hair. I was also brought up in the 60s and 70s when you didn't have a bath every day and almost no one had showers. But you did have a proper wash every day at the sink and feet got a good scrub in the bath. I'm not a sweaty person but I couldn't live with my feet if they never got a proper soaping between the toes etc.

Mamette · 08/12/2022 20:35

@Wdib78 I’m not going to quote your message as it’s come out oddly but there are many countries where people wash instead of wiping and guess what, they think wiping is weird and unhygienic.

Saw someone on here once describe it by saying- what would you do if you got poo on your hand? Wipe it with a dry piece of toilet paper or wash it?
