Speeding fines should be kept by police?

I've been thinking about this one a lot. I can't remember the last time I actually saw any police and I have almost no confidence they can protect me, my family or my local area. This is not the fault of the police, who in the main simply don't have the funding to do anything other than the essential.

At the moment, all the speeding fines go to a central fund to be redistributed on any general public spending. If this was changed, I actually think we'd see more police.

I know some will say more drivers will get caught - good - there were 1,558 road deaths in the UK in 2022. Think how many people that is.

These extra police are then also going to catch things speed cameras just can't, like undertaking and tailgating, and possible detect non-vehicle crime too.

The issue is the fine amounts wouldn’t actually pay for many officers, so although I agree the police forces should keep the fines, it won’t help your issue.

Thankfully we live somewhere with a good general and rural police presence

Hello can you get a speeding fine from a dual carriage way. But the police were other side.
I think I was doing 70. I did see the police parked in a rest bay. I think it looked like a normal phone he was holding up. But he was on the other side. I was going one way and was parked the other side going the other way. If that makes sense
