To have no idea what these charges are for on my debit card

I have one for 'CVR plus' and one for 'EVR plus' - one is around £2ish and the other around £8ish

I have no idea what they are for, have spent ages googling but none the wiser

Does anyone know?

Have you got an option to freeze your card online/on app until you can find out? I had something similar happen to me (2 x transactions in the US for small amounts while I was in the UK) my card had been cloned and they were “tester” transactions to see if it got flagged. If it doesn’t, then they go for bigger transactions.

Contact your bank and they can give you more details

I’d agree with Pp they may be tester transactions. Freeze your card contact your bank. I had transactions show up for 66p and £1.80. Bank said it happens a lot and then they will try for multiple transactions of £500+.

It might be the name for whatever company a small retailer is using for their card reader services. I had a few charges recently I didn't recognise and it had a weird name and then a UK town. (Not mine or somewhere I'd been recently). I worked out they were craft fair purchases that had been using those small readers connected to traders phones.

I’ve had similar. The scammer then called me pretending to be my bank, saying there had been fraudulent activity on my account and I needed to transfer the money to a ‘safe’ account (haha).

Freeze your card if you can and report it to your bank. Mine sent out a new card quickly.

CVR and EVR sound like they might relate to a subscription service for a security camera system: Continuous Video Recording and Event (triggered) Video Recording.

If you've not just signed up to anything like that, sounds like it's a scam, as others have described.

Do you have a security/camera system, like netvue or ring? I get EVR from netvue at $8.99 opening which is for Event Video Recording from netvue. It can be confusing but they should send you a receipt for payment.

Hey there from US-was wondering if you figured out what CVR Plus was bc I just noticed a $9.99 charge pop up on my cc- the notes for the purchase said it was online but since I had been driving for 4 hours during that time, I surely was not online shopping... any clues to who these ppl are? Ty for amy help!

CobraChicken · 14/11/2023 18:16

Have you just signed up for any security camera or video doorbell type subscription? NetView CVR Plus happens to be $9.99/month.

If not, it's going to be a fraudulent transaction.
