Ds2 in primary school (year 5) has been playing football with school for the past few weeks. I'm not sure what kind of tournament it is but it's called Planet League and something to do with climate change. Anyway they've been competing against lots of local schools and having matches three days a week. So Monday/Wednesday/Friday and usually play during dinner time. They train hard during break time and do cross country too. Anyway he is exhausted.
I've been preoccupied with Ds1 recently (autistic) so I feel really guilty that I didn't pay much attention to ds2 but after seeing him so tired and questioning him properly I've only just really realised the above (playing 3x week, lots of training) and that they travel to different schools to play. On some occasions they've got back to school late, missed a portion of their lessons and eaten lunch late too. I'm wondering why school hasn't mentioned anything at all, nothing in newsletters or from his class teacher about this football tournament. Nobody asked has permission about taking the kids out of school on a regular basis.
DS's been complaining about tiredness and injuries to his legs (nothing serious) but he's adamant he wants to continue playing and he's actually happy at school for a change. But I don't even know how long it's for as they haven't given me any information. I will be asking his teacher today at pick up if she shows her face
I guess my point is aibu to think school should keep parents better informed? And isn't it a little excessive three times a week?
