2 years. A baby dies due to neglect and with an under extremely suspicious severe headwound and this woman gets 2 years.

Her defence tried to cite PND and I feel disgusted. As someone who is suffering very serious PND I am tired of people attributing mental health to disgusting crimes like this. The person in these photos outside of court, clearly enjoying the publicity, is not struggling with PND or her crime. My PND is terrible but I don’t take drugs around my DC. I don’t hurt or abuse them or neglect them or ignore them. I show up for them every single day.

I’m sick of this country’s legal system. Murderers, paedophiles and rapists getting a few years here and there for horrific crimes then back out again like nothing ever happened, meanwhile the victims and their families have to suffer, if they’re still alive. An innocent little baby has died and this woman will be out within a year probably.

It’s hideous.

The pictures of her outside court are sick, her smiling. And blaming PND is sick too, thousands of women have PND and manage not to leave their baby injured and alone in an overheating room for 3 hours until they die. They also don’t smoke weed around their children. The sentence is an absolute joke.

A 15 cm skull fracture? 15 cm On a baby. How one earth wasn't she charged for that?

Wheatandchaffinch · 02/12/2022 13:42

Can anyone here explain why such a short sentence would be given? Why are sentences so short?

It appears from the article she pleaded guilty to child cruelty. She was not charge for murder. Therefore the sentencing guidelines are: www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/magistrates-court/item/cruelty-to-a-child-assault-and-ill-treatment-abandonment-neglect-and-failure-to-protect/.

Absolutely sickening and she should have been charged for murder. My heart breaks for that poor baby boy.

theydontspeakforus · 02/12/2022 13:54

People like this will do it again. She will have - and neglect - another child.

I'm as liberal and left as they come, but in cases like this these women should never be allowed to have another child.

Not sure why this is so hard to understand

she pled guilty to a lesser charge, she got the average sentence for the crime she was convicted of.

it is hard to understand. Why would child neglect resulting in death result in such low sentences in ANY situation, not just this one. Child neglect that leads to such outcomes shouldn’t have an average sentence of 2 years. End of.

The ugly cunt will get her arse handed to her in prison. Inmates do not take kindly to newcomers who have abused children. And I for one hope the screws turn a blind eye.

idonotmind · 02/12/2022 14:14

Yes - just shows the low value we place on children's lives. And the high value on people like hers

Because she was convicted of a lesser crime.

she pled guilty early so got the benefits of that too regarding sentencing too

your lack of understanding around the basics of the law is the issue here tbh

What issue? There’s no issue here.

I’m allowed to be angry that child cruelty gets 2 years. She was convicted of child cruelty. I am allowed to be angry that it should be as low as 2 years no matter whether she plead guilty early or not. I don’t believe there should be such benefits to allow a murderer to receive a sentence so short.

This isn’t about me just not understanding the judicial system, this is about the judicial system allowing such ‘benefits’. There is a much bigger issue if you think that even after all the ‘benefits’ this sentence is acceptable.

The fact you don’t understand why it’s very necessary to have a reason for people to plead guilty early on in the process just amplifies this is a comprehension issue.

good luck

You are clearly not understanding anything I’m saying. Good luck to you and your lack on insight.

Fully agree! Absolutely disgusting.

Frankly disgusting that she got off easy by pleading guilty to child cruelty.
