I heard today that David Millibrand might come back into UK politics.

For me it's the best news I've had this year!!! He is the Prime Minister we have been waiting for!

It’s Miliband

doubt he would, tbh

justasking111 · 30/11/2022 22:55

It would be good for the party but not so good for the family. So I'd say no. This rumour has been floated before

CustardUnicorn · 30/11/2022 22:56

Don't think he'd be pm but he'd lend heft to a Starmer govt. Sign of confidence in the Labour future. I hope Tories are eviscerated.

ssd · 30/11/2022 22:58

Bloody hope so

Fizzadora · 30/11/2022 22:59

Another multi millionaire Labour MP🙄
It should be an oxymoron but unfortunately it's not.

forgetfulbrain · 30/11/2022 23:06

I misread that as David Attenborough...wouldn't that be great!? Grin

justasking111 · 30/11/2022 23:08

The labour party stitched him up at the last minute. I believe he was a decent man with a disgusting excuse of a brother who went along with it

@Lucy61 oh hello Russian troll. Getting more sophisticated, but a few tell tale signs in your text. Try again!

Apologies- new to posting and meant to start a new thread. Have asked for mumsnet to remove my post from here as not sure how to delete. Now posted on AIBU.

What did Ed do?

BillLius · 01/12/2022 00:09

He made the Ed stone.

Cactuar · 01/12/2022 00:12

Lol just read 'Lucy's post and thought wtf you on about? before even seeing the other comments 🤣

RosalindsAFuckingNightmare · 01/12/2022 00:27

Had his brother not stepped forward I think David would have been PM and we would be on a completely different pathway now.

Agreed. Ed didn't have the same talent David had. If he'd won the leadership...

Valeriekat · 01/12/2022 07:36

Do you really think he would give up all that money he is earning in the US?

Yes like a shot. He's already well off. Money isn't everything especially to those who work in politics (or why would Rishi do it?) Power, the ability change things, name in history.

David Milliband is certainly a good egg and would be welcomed by many.

Last time I saw him interviewed he said he wouldn't, he'd had his day in UK politics and was now committed to something else.

However, people can change their minds and the country is in crisis.

Let's hope.
