To ask for a seaview restaurant in SE England

Posting in AIBU for traffic...

It's my 40th on Sunday & I had plans to go away for the weekend but unfortunately had to cancel, so now I'm looking for a day trip at short notice.

Does anyone know of any good restaurants or pubs with a sea view, or just a lovely view, anywhere SE England (Kent ideally), I am SE London/Kent. Don't want to go into London.

Have done Whitstable quite a few times, so not there.

Thank you!

Definitely Rocksalt in Folkestone.

squashyhat · 28/11/2022 08:24

I came on the thread to say Rocksalt! Also Rockwater in Hove.

squashyhat · 28/11/2022 08:25

Another: the Zetland Arms in Kingsdown near Deal. Right on the beach.

JeanAbbott · 28/11/2022 08:28

The waterfront in Hythe , right on the beach , ask for a table in the window. Then have a walk along the promenade to the Imperial hotel for a cocktail in the m&c champagne bar-sea view there too
Hope you have a great birthday

AriettyHomily · 28/11/2022 08:29

The tartan frigate, broadstairs

lawofselfish · 28/11/2022 08:35

Restaurants at watergate bay

Henuinequest · 28/11/2022 08:36

Rockwater in Hove - you can’t get much closer and the food’s amazing! Or the Salt rooms in Brighton

Riddle & Finns The Beach, Brighton. Not the one further inland which smells of wee 👇

IneedanewTV · 28/11/2022 09:05

St Mildreds Bay bistro
Rocksalt

FASDE1517 · 28/11/2022 09:17

Tartare Frigate or Albion in broadstairs.
A la Turka in Ramsgate or Herne Bay.
Rocksalt
Slab in Margate.

jamoncrumpets · 28/11/2022 09:35

Folkestone locals tend to think Rocksalt is a bit fur coat, no knickers.

Not directly on the sea, but Folkestone Wine Company are widely considered the best restaurant in Folkestone, for very good reason.

JeanAbbott · 28/11/2022 09:49

@girlmeetsboy , Ben's mums lasagne was the best 👌
The wine company restaurant is nowhere near the sea @jamoncrumpets
Rocksalt is for people who want to be seen the acoustics are terrible IMO

Lovely chap isn't he? I think the roasts there are great! I don't like Rocksalt myself, always had patchy service there.

Yes, I said it wasn't directly on the sea. It's only 5 mins from it though. I love it there so much. They catered my DH's 40th, prepared us a whole three course meal to have at home because our autistic 7yo was going through a really rough patch and couldn't cope with restaurants. We ate like kings! They couldn't have been kinder or more accommodating.

JeanAbbott · 28/11/2022 10:10

That sound lovely @jamoncrumpets , the food is really good but @Catnipples wanted somewhere with a sea view TWC doesn't have any view except a wool shop if I remember correctly
Haven't eaten there since they changed the menu @girlmeetsboy maybe have to book it soon though as their roasts are amazing I agree

PeonyRose80 · 28/11/2022 10:18

Completely not where you want but… The Jetty in Christchurch

Catnipples · 28/11/2022 10:33

Oooh these are great suggestions, thank you!
😂at the view of the wool shop @JeanAbbott

Tartare Frigate in Broadstairs or Waterfront in Hythe are strong contenders...

Also chuckling at 'fur coat & no knickers' 😆

I absolutely adore that wool shop.

JeanAbbott · 28/11/2022 10:41

If you're in to wool shops it's a must @Catnipples Grin
