Is this company BU for the extra charge?
I ordered some bespoke cabinets from a company. I have used this company twice before to fit beds for my children. My husband measured and I sent off the measurements. All fine. Close to the date of the delivery my husband re measured and realised some of his measurements may have been off. I messaged the company and they said too late the items had been made. Totally understood so I asked my husband to book a day annual leave when the cupboards were being fitted in order to help out with his tools to make them fit (he used to work in construction so has an idea). The day of delivery arrives and I get a message saying that their van has been stolen and some of our items. So they rearrange delivery for the following week. My husband has meetings and can’t be there.
Following week items come. Work men in. Stuff doesn’t fit - he said ‘we can take them make and change them to make them fit.’ I said not to worry, if they leave them here my husband can try fit them. He said ‘you won’t be charged extra.’ And took them off which to be honest was better for us.
later on I get a message from the owner saying they can re deliver next week and it’s an extra of £230. I have already paid over £1600 if it’s relevant.
i said the work man said I wouldn’t have to pay extra, she said they need changing and redelivering.
i want to know whether she is being unreasonable or I am for expecting it to be done with no cost. I understand that the measurements being wrong is our fault but I would have just got the work men to leave the items if I’d have known it was an issue with extra costing.
