Henderson's Relish is far superior to other vaguely similar condiments

that Hen-do thread made me realise there are other fans of Hendos here.

What's not to love? Great in pies, stews, baked beans, on bread with dripping, in a Bloody Mary and so on (would love to hear how other people use it)

And it's vegan. Go Hendos!

IHeartGeneHunt · 23/11/2022 12:10

I put it in cheese straws.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 23/11/2022 12:10

No, have to disagree. My DH loves the stuff but I can take it or leave it.

Waitrose, Morrisons - maybe some other supermarkets.

Oysterbabe · 23/11/2022 12:11

I've never tried it. What's it like?

bigfamilygrowingupfast · 23/11/2022 12:11

Having been to uni in Sheffield, hendos is a staple food in my cupboard 😅 Tesco used to sell it

depends where you are. (super excited to hear it was in Gusto though) If you're in Sheffield pretty much any supermarket. If not - you can order it online direct from the manufacturer.

This is outing but my claim to fame is that our local-ish English shop started stocking it after Henderson's stopped shipping to Germany (waily waily). But now they've gone bust (thanks Brexit) so I have to stock up when i go back to Sheffield.

@Oysterbabe like Worcester sauce but not. It's hard to describe! There's no anchovy in it so it's not quite the same but you can use it the same. It's nice on meat pies and stews.

Threadkillacilla · 23/11/2022 12:13

Had cheese on toast with Hendos this morning.

Brefugee · 23/11/2022 12:13

it comes in a clear glass bottle with an orange label, quite old fashioned looking, and can usually be found by the Vinegar and other condiments (in shops that stock it)

I have it on my chips and it's flippin' lovely

I'm in the South West and I get it at my local Sainsbury's.

CuteOrangeElephant · 23/11/2022 12:15

We have bottles of the stuff in our house, live in Europe but DH is originally from Sheffield.

Threadkillacilla · 23/11/2022 12:16

We put it in everything, and cheese or tomato based dish is illuminated with a good glug.
makes balsamic look like pish.

i went to the factory once (when it was still opposite the Jessop) and bought a gallon container. The woman in the office was asking me where i live, and on hearing "soldier, germany" asked me if i knew a chap called Dave in Dortmund who used to order a gallon regularly but she was worried because she hadn't heard from him in ages.

I brought back 6 big bottles last month, but my DCs stole some.

WhiskersPete · 23/11/2022 13:34

I also went to Uni in Sheffield. I now live in the north west and you can get it in Home Bargains.
