To ask if you can rent hotel rooms in the day...

Hello! This might be a very odd post - not intended to be seedy and I am a regular poster with a name change.

My husband and I are going for lunch on London this week for a family birthday, but I have a work event in the evening, so I have to stick around in town and he has some time before he has to go home for solo bedtime.

Obviously, we could take a walk with the festive lights, or book a massage or something. This is probably the more sensible option. I just wondered if there is an option to get a hotel room for an afternoon - family life is a bit hectic at the moment, so would be lovely to have some cheeky downtime away from our domestic chaos!

Generally not in the kind of hotels you want to stay in! Why not book it for the night and go there after your work event too?

SheWoreYellow · 22/11/2022 10:35

Or just book it for the night and not use the night? Check in should be 2 or 3pm depending on the hotel.

TheNoonBell · 22/11/2022 10:35

We do it quite often at airports. You need to ask for a "day room".

flowngo · 22/11/2022 10:36

Dayuse website, perfectly regular hotels

GabriellaMontez · 22/11/2022 10:36

Yes. Especially near airports.

BrieAndChilli · 22/11/2022 10:42

you could ring a hotel and say you need a room to get ready in between your lunch and evening functions.

Hobbesmanc · 22/11/2022 10:50

There's several websites that do this all in perfectly respectable hotel brands like Novotel or Ibis. I imagine lots do use it for clandestine hook ups but I'm sure there's lots that don't.

We did this once in Inverness waiting for the overnight train. It was lovely-we had long baths room service lunch and a "nap". But the reception desk were obviously surprised to greet a very together, middle aged couple in hiking gear just off the hills!
