To ask if you know that Alexa can read your Kindle books out loud?

I have been using it like this for years, but when I mention it to friends they are always unaware.
I don't mean an Audible subscription, where you pay for a specific download, read by a professional. I mean any book on your Kindle, read in "Alexa's" voice.
I really love reading and I have an Alexa in my kitchen. It means that if I'm doing housework or cooking I can just carry on with where I've got to on my book!
In case you are wondering, no I don't work for Amazon. I was just reminded when reading another thread from someone who wears headphones when doing housework. I also sometimes wear them when "reading" like this, is my kids are doing their homework nearby for example.
Just thought I'd share. It might make someone's day more enjoyable!

Thank you! I am having eye surgery next week and that could be very useful. I will investigate!

Ooh I knew you could get the kindle app to do text to speech. It's so convenient and doesn't sound robotic.
I'm gonna try it with Alexa on the echo dot. I assume you just ask her to read said book in kindle app?

Yes but she lacks the subtlety of nuance. It’s robot speak and for me it’s like she’s reading your shopping list. Well for everyone as it’s the same speech process they use . A monotone drone.

so I think I’d manage folks expectations, it’s not like paying for an audio book where someone reads it to you with nuances, but just a robotic drone

So yes, you just say "Alexa read my book" and she should pick up where you left off on the Kindle. Sometimes it doesn't work properly (this is Alexa after all!!) So you may need to say the title and author, and it helps to say ".. from my Kindle" at the end. If it picks up in the wrong place you can say Go forward / go back 5 mins, 30 seconds, whatever, until you get to the right bit.
Of course it doesn't replace "proper" reading, and yes, as someone else said, it is in Alexa's voice, which is obviously artificial and lacks nuance. But that doesn't bother me if I'm just after a bit of entertainment while I'm peeling spuds!!
