Is there ever a situation when you would advise staying together for the children?

If there's no abuse of any kind or no cheating. I completely agree that people should be able to leave if they're unhappy but what if it was going to make everyone's lives harder (impossible even, such as parent or children with disabilities). I don't know how I feel so wondered what everyone else felt.

No. Children aren't stupid and they always end up knowing that they're the only reason their parents are still together, it's not an emotionally healthy environment to grow up in.
