To take DD to urgent care/walk in centre for arm pain after a fall?

DD (6) fell on her hand on the playground at school yesterday about 45mins before home time. Came out saying her wrist hurt but once we got home I realised she meant her forearm. She got very upset crying and saying it hurt, she said it hurt at school but she was distracted (I wonder if she was trying to be brave!) She had some Calpol which she said helped a bit but it still hurt. It woke her a few times last night when she rolled over and leant on it. This morning she's still not using it much, she can hold things, but can't lean on it or put pressure on it, eg. she can't use that hand to push herself up from sitting on the floor to standing.

There's no bruising or swelling and obviously the pain isn't severe, should I still get it checked out? Part of me thinks if it was broken or fractured she wouldn't be able to use it at all, would you say that's correct? I did call 111 this morning who said I'd get a call back within 24hrs but I'm wondering if I'd be better going to urgent care today and avoid a late night A+E trip.

Yeah I would take her to MIU/Urgent care.

Yes
My son did similar and I didn't take him till the next day as he was still complaining about his forearm.
It was a green stick fracture and he needed plaster.

Not all of them have x Ray facilities at the weekend though so be prepared for them to send you to a&e or ask you to return Monday for an x Ray.

He was the same with holding things but wouldn't bear weight.

When I was 6 my best friend had a fractured arm after we fell over roller skating. No one realised it was fractured for about 3 or 4 days because my friend didn't say anything.
Take your girl to A+E.

Thanks for replies, 111 nurse called back and said to take her over so we'll be going soon

Good luck at the hospital OP I hope it’s nothing serious and your DD is feeling better soon.

Thank you she has anxiety so got quite upset having the x rays done and found it all a bit overwhelming but she's cheered up a bit now we're home (with a McDonalds!)
