Am I just encountering rude people this week?

Or being overly sensitive?

I was in a train station public toilet the other day. I guess I didn't pay enough attention, I didn't bump into anyone or anything but some young woman sniped, "Why don't you try looking where you're walking next time."
Not to my face, just after she'd passed me.
I wasn't in her way, I didn't block her or anything.

Then I work as a tutor part time and have been approached about part time tutoring for a few hours a day. Some days I can do any time, morning or afternoon, some days 2pm onwards, some days 4:30pm onwards.
This is because I have another job, but it's usual for tutoring to take place after school hours.
The person I'm tutoring isn't currently attending school as far as I know and is in a home.
The manager who's organising it asked for my availability, I told her, and received back a snooty email about how I'm basically setting her up for failure by not being available during the day, how I should know this, and a, "Have you really got no other free slots?!"

I'm probably being over sensitive with these 2 examples but I also feel they were both unnecessarily rude.

It wouldn't be 4pm every day, only for 2 of the days, and it's usual for tutoring to start around then, it's not like I'd said I'll start at 10pm.

The tutoring is snooty and availablity should have been agreed up front. The not paying attention one, you’re the rude person. You are in a public space. You should [pay attention to others

Greysanatomyfan · 19/11/2022 08:58

Oh you voted for yourself not being unreasonable? 😃

The woman in example one will hardly suffer because somebody walked slightly closer to her than she would've liked. Sometimes we have a momentary lapse of concentration. She could've left the bathroom and got on with the rest of her day rather than making jibes i think.

But yeah maybe the wires were crossed re the tutoring and they should've specified in the advert what hours they wanted, rather than asking when I was free and then getting annoyed

Sometimes I feel like there must be something wrong with me on that day in particular as everyone just seems to be cunty.

Daria31 · 19/11/2022 09:10

Yeah, I get that feeling!
I've just ignored her email anyway.

In recent years I’ve realised people in general are shit.
Recent incidents are: I was parked in a local school carpark waiting for my ds doing his football training. The parking spaces are the normal side by side. However, some park long ways taking up two at a time. I was parked normally and after a while a man in a BMW parked facing my car, we were like t shape. He left his front headlights on, shining directly in to my car.
Later, in the same car park, I was reversing near a zebra crossing (was a good 10 feet away) and a man cut the last part out and walked behind my reversing car… and blamed me for almost hitting him!!!

The older we all get, the more we see the true mentality and humanity of other humans in this world…. And it’s a bleak outlook.

What was the woman in the loo on about if you didn’t bump into anyone or anything? She sounds like someone who was just in a grump, ready to lash out at anyone.
