To be seriously concerned about Listeriosis

I'm just over 6 weeks pregnant. Yesterday morning I ate a smoked salmon bagel and last week I had 2 hot smoked salmon fillets. I wasn't aware until yesterday evening that there is a listeriosis outbreak and pregnant women are being advised not to eat cold smoked salmon. Since yesterday evening I've felt nauseous (although I had been feeling nauseous off and on due to the pregnancy) had a headache and have been alternating between constipation/trapped wins and loose stool but not diarrhoea. I have IBS and it feels quite similar to that but I'm very worried, I took my temperature this morning and it was 38°, even though I don't feel hot. I'm on my way to A&E as I'm terrified I've hurt my baby. I had a MMC 4 months ago and I can't cope with this happening again. Has anyone had listeriosis in pregnancy without having a bad outcome?

Try not to panic. Listeria is very rare.

If the smoked salmon was cooked then that will have killed any bacteria.

Most cold smoke salmon you buy in supermarkets has been frozen which also kills the bacteria.

The symptoms you're experiencing are all very normal pregnancy symptoms (and your IBS could be flaring because of your stress too)

If it will help you, go and get checked out but the chances of you having hurt your baby are really really small.

Get checked out to put your mind at rest but there have been 8 cases of listeria in the UK this year. That makes it pretty much a one in ten million chance that you have listeriosis.

OK perhaps I'm worrying about nothing, just very difficult not to overthink every symptom. I'm still going to go up A&E just as I know I can't cope not knowing but I have an early scan tomorrow to assess viability so hopefully I'll know more then. Thanks for your replies x
