I'll start. As a young teenager I wrote to a celebrity and received a signed photo with my name and a personalised specific message on. It was on my bedroom wall for years I went to uni and left it behind. While I was at uni, my mum remarried and moved house. I was not involved in the packing and moving . My things all went into boxes into the loft of the new house.
Fast forward to about 3 years ago (27 years after the house was packed up) I am unloading my laundry basket (recent purchase from dunelm) there's a cardboard stiffener at the bottom that comes away and under there is my photo. Not a photo, but the exact one. I was so baffled and a bit scared I actually cried. In the 27 years I have lived in 7 different homes, all small so I have regularly had to streamline my things. I know what I own. There was literally no way it could have been there. I'd never stored anything in the laundry basket other than laundry. It genuinely still baffles me. Anyone else had a similar experience?

Bloody hell that is spooky! Im trying to think if anything unexplained has happened to me now

FoldedTowels · 15/11/2022 06:27

Not really unexplained but me and a friend once called each others numbers at the exact same time (back in the day when landlines were a thing), there was no dial tone at all I finished typing her number and could just hear her breathing, it was very strange

millypeggyandpandora · 15/11/2022 06:34

Wow OP, your story is so inexplicable, no wonder you cried. I presume you still have the picture? Was the laundry basket new?
I am the same as Foldedtowels… picked up the landline to phone my friend just as she did the same.

millypeggyandpandora · 15/11/2022 06:35

Sorry, just realised you said the basket was a recent purchase 🙄

MissMaple82 · 15/11/2022 06:36

Have you spoke to your mum about this?

No my mum died 9 years ago. A family member still lives in the house and so we haven't cleared it. Its all still there.

That's it. There is literally no way that photo could have got there.
Even if we assume that somehow the photo was in my house (it wasnt) nothing was near the basket for it to fall in, let alone get under the fake bottom

Wow, that's really incredible. I'll spend the day wracking my brain to think of stuff, but sure I had the phone one with my mum back on landlines.
Meanwhile, thanks for starting this thread! 🍿

When I lived in my old house my ex partner used a yearly travel card to get into London each day, he'd gone to work and I'd found it on the floor so put it on the side thinking it had dropped out of his pocket. When he got home I told him it was there and he said he'd got his, when he picked up the one I'd found he said that it was from the 8/8/88 and it was in a different format to his one. We then googled it and it was a daily travel card from 1988 but in the most immaculate condition it could have been printed that day. I put the photo on a local Facebook page because we couldn't get our heads around where it had come from and how it had ended up on my kitchen floor (assumed on the wheels of the buggy) but how it was in such perfect condition. Post went crazy with people commenting that 8s were Angel numbers etc (the sun even contacted us asking to do a story 🤣) anyway we forgot about it, had a rough idea where I put the card but didnt think any more about it. Anyway within the next 6 weeks my 2 year old at the time dd suffered from severe scarlet fever needing hospitalisation and then my ex partner suffered from meningoencephalitis and has been left with a serious brain injury. Was having such a horrific time I decided it must be to do with this ticket and could never find it again. Not particularly superstitious but I do think that things 'changed' when it came into the house.

Which celeb was it?

LouisTherouxsshoe · 15/11/2022 07:07

Many years ago I woke around 1am and as it was summer I had the bedroom windows open.
I could hear sounds from outside, screams, animal sounds, sirens, people shouting, white noise, music, all jumbled up.
I went downstairs and opened the front door and stood there a while. The sounds weren’t coming from any particular direction they just were in the air.
Eventually after about 20 minutes they got quieter and quieter until there was no more.
Following day I scoured the news for an explanation but nothing. Really weird.

I heard my Dad come in from the garden, the morning after he died.

I've had this a few times when calling home!

In the week after my mum died my doorbell rang three times on different days in the early hours of the morning, the last one was so loud it made me jump, Utterly bizarre. It hasn't done it again since.

Me and my dd regularly do this lol

Parked my car at a multi storey car park. We were in a middle bay, I had two cars either side of me. Went shopping with my DD when we returned to the bay - I think it was Level 2, no car. We stood scratching our heads when a small man dressed in overalls and holding a broom seemingly appeared from nowhere. He asked me if I had lost my car, I started explaining and he said:

”I can help you find it”.

I got a very eerie feeling from him and realised it was a bad example to my DD that I should trust a random man to help me in a car park so I politely declined. I just wanted to get us away from him so we went up the stairs to level 3 to try and figure things out. My car was parked on the furthest side, facing a wall, with a fire exit on one side and another car on the other. No way had I parked it there. I could not get out of that car park quick enough.

Who was the celeb and what was the message

lurchermummy · 15/11/2022 07:26

After my dad died I got three text messages from his mobile phone in the middle of the night. This was in the days before smart phones and there was no message if you see what I mean just a text with no content. His phone at that time was turned off and in a drawer in a different country to me. When I got the third message I spoke out loud and said hello dad I know it's you and I never got any more after that!

Pixnix · 15/11/2022 07:21

Who was the celeb and what was the message

It's quite an unusual and outing one so I won't say the exact thing. It wouldn't be the type of celeb that sent a load of photos.
It wasn't anyone with a catchphrase.
The message was "to crochet monkey...(my first name is unusual) then a message with the name of a venue in my hometown and a friends name that I had written in my letter
Very personalised and specific

I experienced a time slip. It was the most unnerving and terrifying experience of my life. For a few months I questioned if it had actually happened of if I’d experienced some sort of mental health episode but after having done some digging, everything I saw in the time slip was accurate and were things I couldn’t have known / guessed so I’m now quite sure it actually happened.

Wow this sounds amazing. What happened? I think you've captured here how upsetting it can be and how totally unnerving

Years ago when I was 14 I came home from school to find a dead blackbird in our garden, nothing unusual about that I guess but then I noticed lots of it's feathers stuck in the ground around the edge of our garden, this unnerved me. I buried the poor thing in the soil. The next day I came home from school and it was back almost in the same spot, now I was feeling quite upset. I buried it deeper in a different place. I was anxious at school the next day telling nobody, I came home and to my horror it was back, I asked friends was this a prank ? I walked up the street around the corner and put it under heavy gravel near a garage about 100 yards from our house. The next day it was back again, I was really fretting wtf. I put it in a bin on bin day and never saw it again. The next day home alone on my school dinner, lived near school, this was the 80s house phone only. The phone rang and a horrible voice said your Mum is going to die, by now I was a mess and indeed my Mum got really poorly that week and ended up in hospital with what turned out to be a water infection but didn't die thank goodness . Nothing ever happened again but I still think about it occasionally,

UnreasonabIe · 15/11/2022 07:52

One sunny, hot day about ten years ago I was cycling up a steep hill from my Mum's house with a terrible corner at the top. As I reached the top I "heard" my Mum call my name really loudly and urgently and had this very weird sense of dread that caused me to cry. I pulled into a little lane off the road right at the corner and stopped and sat on the ground shaking for no reason. A moment later a car came up the road on my original intended route at a ridiculously high speed for a blind bend - it wouldn't have seen me and wouldn't have been able to stop, I'm pretty sure at that speed it would've killed me.
I phoned Mum immediately and she was still at home.
Smile something was looking out for me that day!

I once lost my necklace and found it in the spine of a book. No idea how it got in there!
