If you wanted to report someone for drink driving anonmously how do you do it and make sure its no way it cpuld get back to you?
Would you ring emergency services to do it? How long would it take?
Do the Police do random breathalyser checks?

Actually in the act? Just ring 999. I have in the past.

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 13/11/2022 19:37

If you call 999 you dont have to give your details. I have done it more than once.

2greenroses · 13/11/2022 19:37

I don't know, but have you tried crimestoppers?

EmeraldShamrock1 · 13/11/2022 19:38

If the act is complete there won't be proof.

LiftyLift · 13/11/2022 19:38

You can call 101 which is the non emergency number, giving all the information. They will likely send a unit to catch them in the act and will look random. Or call 999 if they are driving already.

Dallimore · 13/11/2022 19:39

You can report it to crime stoppers if they are doing it regularly. If they are doing it at the time then 999 is the best option.

Someone did this to FIL. He was seen getting into his car after going on a bender at the pub. Someone rang the police (rightly so) they tracked him down straight away, breathalysed him and he was arrested at the scene. I don’t know if they gave any details when they reported him, but if they did it was kept anonymous and he doesn’t know who it was

If they're drinking and getting in a car. 999. If they're just boring on about it as they did then the police won't bother. Very much a caught in the act thing. I was hit by a known drunk driver, the police had been hoping to catch him. It frustrated me that they couldn't have taken action and essentially had to let the writing off of my car play out.

Macbeth8 · 13/11/2022 19:52

But the person I want to do it on is law enforcement....will there be any speel/way he could ask why theyre pulling him over (like legal talk)??

What is theyve drank double the units night before then are driving first thing in the morning.? Would the Police bother?

Yes they would bother. It is illegal. If you believe someone is driving over the limit, report them. You don't need to give any details other then those required to pull the car over. Number plate, road name, direction they are driving in etc.

EricNorthmanYesPlease · 13/11/2022 20:15

They clamp down on law enforcement too. I doubt they would do anything about it the following morning though.
Also, one unit is processed every hour by the human body (on average), if they got breathalised in the morning, they could stall and by the time they get to the station and have a urine or blood test, they could be within the limit.
Best to report them on the evening in question if they drive .

Greenshake · 13/11/2022 20:20

I would imagine that in the current climate they would be very keen to clamp down on a staff member breaking the law
