A 18-65 year old ward

Is this a trick question?

TomTraubertsBlues · 13/11/2022 14:43

The majority of hospital inpatients are over 65, so yes, they are likely to be among the youngest on any inpatient ward (with obvious exceptions such as maternity units etc).

Confused
Ponoka7 · 13/11/2022 14:44

There isn't an answer, it just depends on who needs to be admitted and the type of ward, post surgical, definitely not, a lung ward, possibly. I was in with pneumonia when I was in my thirties. There were younger people in.

Oysterbabe · 13/11/2022 14:45

I think the chance of your body malfunctioning increases the older you get so yes.

Headabovetheparakeet · 13/11/2022 14:47

Probably. Does it matter?

fancyfrogs · 13/11/2022 14:50

Well probably, yes. Though the type of ward is likely to be a factor to some extent.

Onlyforcake · 13/11/2022 14:53

I've been on an adult ward as a 45 year old and been the youngest by more than a decade so yanbu. BUT some wards would probably have a more mixed 'pool'

MrsTimRiggins · 13/11/2022 14:54

Possibly but it really depends on the type of ward

slowquickstep · 13/11/2022 15:03

Why would it matter ?

ApplePieFry · 13/11/2022 15:04

Depends on the type of ward.

Is this a riddle?

do we get a prize for guessing?

ScreamingInfidelities · 13/11/2022 15:09

I was in an 8 bed ward when my appendix burst. I was 1 month past my 18th birthday and everyone else was much older. 4 of the women were over 80.

Bagpuss2022 · 13/11/2022 15:10

Possibly depending what kind of ward dementia yes gastro maybe not My 20 year old DS was on a mixed ward for a month or so beginning of year he was in a bag with 3 other all under 25

Gingersay · 13/11/2022 15:13

As long as they have a bed what does it matter who else is in there!

Glitteratitar · 13/11/2022 15:25

I spent a lot of time in hospital when I was 20. I was the youngest on the ward, but there were several in their 20s too.

Hellocatshome · 13/11/2022 15:29

Does it matter? Presumably there may be people from 18 years old there. It just depends who needs a bed on that ward at that time. Depending on what the ward is for there may be more older or more younger people.
