Entered a prize draw and the draw hasn't happened.

I entered a draw with a reputable company. It wasn't free to enter. The draw was advertised to take place on the 4th of November, but it hasn't taken place. I contacted the company to find out what was going on and just got back a reply that the draw would take place that week (at least 1 week after advertised date). 2 weeks later, still no sign that the draw has happened. Any suggestions on hoe best to follow this up.

How do you know it was a reputable company? Sounds like a scam to me

ElmoNeedsThePotty · 13/11/2022 00:25

Who was it?

ecosystem · 13/11/2022 00:32

I've dealt with the company before. But I'm wondering if there is any suggestions on following this up further other than emailing

What are their T & Cs in regard to late drawings?

I think legit draws fall under gambling guidelines so you could ask whoever the ombudsman is who oversees gambling to investigate.

ecosystem · 13/11/2022 00:48

they've not added t@c for late drawing. I'll contact them again and then if no progress, follow up as advised. Thank you

We could give better suggestions if you could tell us the company?

It's not very outing to tell us a company who you've placed a bet with if that's what you're worried about

ping78 · 13/11/2022 19:39

Have they sold enough tickets? Is it like one of those house lottery things? Presumably they need to sell X amount before they can draw, although not sure of the legality of extending an advertised draw date. I remember that house one in the lake or Peak District seemed to go on for months and months, was always on my Facebook!

ecosystem · 14/11/2022 00:20

Thank you. I'll contact them again tomorrow. Everyone has been helpful.
I don't want to say the company as I have a lot of dealings with them and this is very unusual and frustrating,

gambling often falls under local authorities jurisdiction- they should have a license from the council. I’d start your questioning there.

devilledhens · 14/11/2022 02:21

I think I’d let it go and forget it unless you spent loads on the ticket

Fraaahnces · 14/11/2022 02:55

There is actually gambling/raffle ombudsman you can contact for info on this.

Itisbetter · 14/11/2022 02:58

@ecosystem I don't want to say the company as I have a lot of dealings with them and this is very unusual and frustrating, I’d say it’s very unusual to have a lot of dealings with a prize draw company and to feel your presumably anonymous contact with them and your anonymous posting on MN would adversely effect that relationship. Baffling

kiwigeekmum · 14/11/2022 03:30

You could try posting on their social media to see if you can get a public response? Not very helpful if you're trying to remain anonymous though. Keep being the squeaky wheel! They need to be held accountable.

Glad to say the draw has now been called, even if rather late. thank you everyone for your help

Pixiedust1234 · 17/11/2022 21:52
