To ask if teenagers still have posters on their bedroom walls?

Inspired by something I saw on a living in the past group.

It said remember when our bedroom walls used to look like this!!!
Then pics of bedroom walls of teens with pics etc of their favourite/singers bands etc up.

Made me think I don't know any teens really so do your sons and daughters still have pics and posters up of pop stars and bands etc on their walls?

Mine has, more movie related than music though. And football.

teacake89 · 11/11/2022 18:05

Dd is 14 and her wall is covered in posters of her fave bands as well as anime she watches.
HMV sell loads of posters, so I think they are probably still a thing with certain teens.

Dacadactyl · 11/11/2022 18:06

My daughter has pictures from Vogue on her walls, cards of drawings, records up etc. No one actually famous though.

Dacadactyl · 11/11/2022 18:06

Oh yes she also has some bands up...oasis and arctic monkeys

PrunellaMcTat · 11/11/2022 18:07

Mine does. Her bedroom wall looks like mine used to - posters of her favourite group, tickets from stuff she's done, sketches she's drawn, photos of her and her friends, silly in-joke things that have made her laugh, floor to ceiling nonsense.
Most of her friends don't though because they're not allowed to put things on the walls.

KangarooKenny · 11/11/2022 18:07

No, mine don’t.

Downthestais · 11/11/2022 18:09

Yes - barely an inch is spare space. Covered in posters and photos of friends!

caroleanboneparte · 11/11/2022 18:13

Dc1 didn't.

But dc2 has film/ tv posters up.

No music.

They say they prefer 90s music to bands now!

Darbs76 · 11/11/2022 18:14

My 14yr old DD has what I’d describe as printed small cut outs of bands / musicals etc and blue tacked to the wall, so not posters as such but same principle, you can see her tastes from looking at that wall. My 18yr old DS just had football photos - as in a signed framed photo, no posters.

scrivette · 11/11/2022 18:28

My DS has stuck photos of his friends up, drawings he has done, drawings his little sister has made, a few favourite birthday cards and a Lego poster.

I wonder if children aren't really allowed to stick things up anymore as people seem more houseproud/tidy nowadays. (Not me!)

Dedontdodatderdode · 11/11/2022 18:35

Mine does. Late teens.
TV, films, musicians

thestuffthatdreamsaremadeof · 11/11/2022 18:41

You can barely see an inch of wall in my dd's room.

Some of her friends aren't allowed to put anything on their walls which i find quite sad. To me her room is her space, we can redecorate when she moves out Grin

Aquamarine1029 · 11/11/2022 18:42

My daughter had photos of family, friends, and landscape photos she took herself. She also has a very nice art collection.

My entire bedroom was plastered with Duran Duran posters.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 11/11/2022 18:42

My DD has musical instruments and angsty teenage posters hung on her wall

DS has vinyls and concert tickets on his

It is sad, but I wonder if it's because the parents are renting and don't want to damage the walls.

thestuffthatdreamsaremadeof · 11/11/2022 18:51

@Aquamarine1029 nope none of them are renting. Just like their teenagers bedrooms to look like nice (in their eyes)

Theyorkshirelass · 11/11/2022 18:54

I had loads of posters of Chesney hawkes as a teen but mine just didn’t really bother
between 6 of them, they had about 4 posters (and two where Ollie murs-dd loved him)
the lads just didn’t bother and my youngest seemed to copy her brothers
we did have a lot of photos (eldest) fairy lights (youngest) and football pictures (the lads)
I was fully expecting loads of posters but it just didn’t happen

I saw it as their room and I’d repaint once they moved out
