It’s quite slippery due to the rains and blocked gutters. Gutters have been cleared.

aibu to pressure wash stone patio (around the house) and the drive now - or is it best to wait until spring!?

As long as it isn't below freezing, and it isn't pouring down or really windy, you can do it now

User478 · 09/11/2022 21:20

It's a bit noisy for this time of night, I hope your neighbours aren't asleep!

Katelyn88 · 09/11/2022 21:21

Now = next few days.

not right now!!

I'd love to be able to do this to save people going arse over tit. However, Thames water kindly reminded me we're still on a hose pipe ban.
It's only going to get worse, if you're not on a ban go for it.

DeanStockwooooo · 09/11/2022 21:30

Ha ha I thought you meant right now too, waiting for other MNers coming on to yell about inconsiderate neighbours .

Yes it's fine to to do it now as long as its not hoingvto freeze overnight.

notmyrealmoniker · 09/11/2022 21:34

Has the hose pipe ban ended then?

Wash with patio cleanser and hot water and a stiff brush. It will do it.

Andanotherginplease · 09/11/2022 21:35

Fine to do it in the next few days. The winter will only make them more slippery if you don't.

Katelyn88 · 09/11/2022 21:39

We were the first to have the hose pipe ban. Are we STILL banned? After all those rains?

Wtf !? 😳

Not everyone is, or even was, under a hosepipe ban....

OP I also thought you meant right now 😂

I'll be doing mine tomorrow cause I dropped a half open can of kidney beans and the chili sauce is all over the drive....and my car...and my slippers...

So many questions!

Phrenologistsfinger · 09/11/2022 21:53

No, because we are still under a drought and I want to be able to drink and shower next summer.

Eve · 09/11/2022 21:56

I’ll be doing mine at weekend, it’s so slippy , have already slipped on it once & hosepipe ban lifted last week.

BogRollBOGOF · 09/11/2022 21:58

I prefer pressure washing in the winter; I'm wrapped up against the weather anyway and it makes sense to do it when demand on water supply is lower.

Lots of reservoirs here and they are still very low ☹️

notmyrealmoniker · 09/11/2022 22:22

Just checked and I am still under a hosepipe ban.

littleworld187 · 09/11/2022 22:33

DH did our's a few months back and the block paving is noticeably more grippy now

goingtotown · 09/11/2022 22:43

Hosepipe ban still in operation Thames Water.

Hosepipe ban still in operation Thames Water.

Ironically Thames Water who lose ridiculous amounts through broken pipes.

But op not necessarily under a ban - I am not in North West England

Nothing interesting I'm afraid.

I was making a chili, and use kidney beans with chili sauce...

I went to get something from my car, whilst in the middle of pouring the beans into the pan (no, I don't know why) and tripped over the front door step sending the can everywhere.

perenniallymessy · 10/11/2022 06:22

Once you've pressure washed I really recommend spraying the driveway with something like Wet n Forget or Patio Magic (if you can find a dry day!). It's made a huge difference to our driveway as it stops the build up of moss and stops it getting slippy again.

CheeseIsMyPatronus · 10/11/2022 06:31

The recent rain hasn’t made up for best part of a year of low rainfall. Reservoirs are still low.

Yes, the hosepipe bans are still in force and no, you can’t pressure wash because of it.

Again, that ENTIRELY DEPENDS ON WHERE SHE IS.

There has been no hosepipe ban in many parts of the country. At all this year.

CheeseIsMyPatronus · 10/11/2022 09:50

@JustFrustrated , the OP said she was under a hosepipe ban. She just assumed it had been lifted because it’s rained.
