I've got in to a habit of wearing sports bras all the time because i hated all my 'normal bras'. But I need to get some decent ones and I'd like them to fitted properly.

What do people do? I have heard about online fittings, has anybody done that?

Maybe try boob or bust to get an idea of size.

Basically, measurement under bust gives back
size

Difference between over bust and under bust measurements gives cup size. Each inch difference is a bigger cup e.g. 1 inch - A, 2 inch - B, 3 inch - C, etc

Following…… I did the Boob or Bust measurement and got something that seemed quite far fetched. Went to M&S and bought something totally different again but not entirely sure it fits quite right. It’s also completely different to Boob or Bust but she was very dismissive of their measurement system when I mentioned it.

Boob or bust was perfect for me. My boobs have never looked so good Grin

M&S add extra inches to the back size giving a bra too big in the back and too small in the cup.

What size bra did boob or bust give and what size did you buy?

dementedpixie · 09/11/2022 21:00

M&S measured me as 40C but I'm actually 36GG!

dizzydizzydizzy · 09/11/2022 21:05

I usually go to a small independent bra shop. I buy 2 or 3 bras at a time. They are usually different sizes but all fit me. I like going there for the expert advice:

Lizzieee2727 · 09/11/2022 21:24

Likely because M+S fit to their stock so will chuck you in something that vaguely fits. There is rarely a need to add on any inches to an underbust measurement because bras are made to be stretchy and not stiffer fabric of old M+S days.
Boob or Bust works for many people but style and brand has a lot to play too. That and a cup size means nothing without the accompanying band, a D on a 28 band is far smaller than a 38D.

emmathedilemma · 09/11/2022 21:26

@dementedpixie BB gave me 30E, I’ve been wearing 32B (they’re very old!) and came away from M&S with 34C. In my opinion I barely have any boobs, let alone an E cup!!

alexdgr8 · 09/11/2022 21:28

could you go to a department store and get fitted properly.

Bintymcbintface · 09/11/2022 21:33

Can I jump on here and ask if any of you lovely folk know where I can find a 30 band in shops that aren't M&S (I don't like their bras) as I'm finding most places don't stock anything below a 32... I'm a 30DD/E and it feels like you can't have boobs and a small back according to shop stockists.

I've got a couple off boux avenue online but I'd just like to walk into a shop, look at what I'd like and get there and then

If you measure 30 under bust then you're not a 34 back.

All E cups are not the same ; a 30E is far smaller in the cup than a 36E as the cup size is relative to the back size.

dementedpixie · 09/11/2022 21:35

P.s 34C = 32D = 30DD with regards to cup volume so 30E is not much different

This graphic explains it a bit better

I did an online fitting with Curvy Kate, and although I thought the concept was a bit crazy they are honestly the best most well fitting most comfortable bras I’ve ever had in my life.

She took one look, took me down a band size and up three cup sizes, I thought she was insane but figured I had nothing to lose but she was 100% right!!

And I’ve had fittings at loads of places over the years where they supposedly knew what they were doing…

P.s 34C = 32D = 30DD with regards to cup volume so 30E is not much different

The thing is, I really don’t have boobs! Before I went to the fitting I tried a mix of 32 and 34 back sizes but in smaller cups and they were all too tight and gave me
hideous under arm bulges. I’ll try a 30E (if I can even find one) for curiosity if nothing else.

dementedpixie · 09/11/2022 21:59

A cup that is too small will make the whole bra feel tight as the breast tissue has nowhere to go.
Under arm bulges are displaced breast tissue as there is not enough fabric to hold it all.
