£15 to see my kids Xmas concert!

The school have just had huge sports hall built (with lots of fundraising from parents), but have decided to hold the Christmas concert at an external venue….consequently tickets are £15 each, plus £3.95 booking fee!

Is this normal? Am I being unreasonable to be a bit outraged?

The 3.95 booking fee is the most shocking part of this. They may as well just say they want to add extra money on to it.

Haha what? That is crazy. A contribution of about five pounds each I can understand but that price is just silly.

NuffSaidSam · 07/11/2022 23:23

That's crazy.

Is it a private school?

Kanaloa · 07/11/2022 23:24

Is your kid Harry Styles or something? Because I wouldn’t be forking that out for your average year 4 child with a tea towel on his head singing most of the words of Little Donkey.

Absolute joke - I have four kids, I’d need to choose a favourite to go to see!

Do state schools fundraise for Sports Halls?
Sound like private, so you have the “best” facilities, if so YABU.
State: it’s fucking outrageous and YANBU!!

MissPoldark · 07/11/2022 23:28

I hope they’re not charging the same for front and back row tickets!

Stationsofthecross · 07/11/2022 23:33

We pay about that.

Forfukzsake · 07/11/2022 23:33

So £34 for both parents to go and see?

That's going to be one empty concert hall.

DramaAlpaca · 07/11/2022 23:40

That's what our local secondary school here in Ireland has been charging for the last few years. Fortunately my own DC have now left school so I've no reason to go, but at €15 per ticket it's a lot of money for most families.

“Hi [headteacher’s name],

How lovely of you to buy us all tickets for the event at [venue]! That’s a lovely gesture and I’m sure the kids will appreciate the experiencing of performing there.

I’m surprised you didn’t choose the newly built Sports Hall to save on costs, how incredibly generous.

Looking forward to receiving the tickets.

Thanks again, have a great Christmas!”
