Hello, just trying to work out what sort of budget is normal for wedding catering - canapés, 2 courses (not plated, served on the table for people to help themselves to). Chicken, veg, nothing too expensive, pudding. And evening food too. Wedding from lunch time til midnight. 100 people. Rough ballpark?

We paid £12k for food for 100 people (day and evening), but that was cost price due to the venue being owned by a family member, and was also 10 years ago.

Sorry didn't realise you were looking for the cost of caterers rather than catering. My friend got married the same year and dropped £4k on catering for about 100 guests but it wasn't great food tbh.

Thank you all for so many useful replies. What I can glean from this is:

  1. It varies MASSIVELY.
  1. There are some incredibly resourceful mumsnetters out there. @WheresMyDodo, small prize for you.
  1. Horsey doovers is the best thing I've read all week. @AcrobaticActuary, I salute you.

About 10k including corkage but not booze for a meal that sounds very similar to yours (canapés and two courses with a sharers) and an evening "grazing table"

The food was very good quality though. Got a lot of compliments.

Hmm, about £2k for 100 I think. Included the icing of the cake, but not the making of said cake. I baked the blessed thing.

hog roast, complete with the person to roast and carve it, plus the floured rolls and condiments was £1000. Salads, sides, canapés, plus tray bake cakes for the evening, and some tray bake quiches/pastry style pizza flatbreads during the photos were about another £1000. That included plate hire and a handful of teenagers to serve it round.

that’s was 2012, but you can still get a hog roast for 100 for about £1100.

Hi we got married May 2022 and paid £5,191.68 that was for a duo starter of fish cake and pate, shin of beef, veg and creamy mushroom pie then chocolate torte dessert. Then we had kids meals and evening hot sandwiches. This was with the venue supplier so no real wiggle room but the service was incredible and everything was bespoke. That was with a company in Staffordshire so unsure on your location. But we had 78 people total, 72 adults, 6 kids and got married in a stately home type of venue. I hope this helps slightly.
