I’ll be heading to New Zealand on holiday soon, and have heard that bus tours are a really good way of exploring the country.

I’d like to do one for about a week (Sat to Fri) and am happy to do either island: either North or South Island.

Does anyone have any rough ideas on how I can start planning a bus tour for about a week that doesn’t cost too much?

Thanks!

maybe try the Kaka one?

You might find that lots of (bus) tours arent back and running properly yet as the tourism sector might still be getting back on its feet, the border only fully opened in August and there are shortages in workers in the tourism sector.

I would suggest hiring a car to drive round the south island, its lovely easy driving

best advice from me is stick pins in the map where you want to see and see if the bus goes there. If not hire a car ( if you can). If not that then just go and work it out when you get there. It’s an amazing place , whatever you do, you won’t regret it. Where do you land, what do you want to do ? Heading back on my fourth trip in a few weeks (not a stealth brag , I am simply in love with the country).

I'm a Kiwi - you'd be better to hire a car. I also suggest the South Island rather than the North Island. Or do both and fly, will be easy if you are hiring a car.
