I’m 48. A bit overweight but quite active and run 5k twice a week and walk decent pint most days.

I've noticed in the past year that my joints have become incredibly noisy! Every time I get up or move in bed they click. It’s actually embarrassing at work - I got up a few times from my desk the other day and they clicked really loudly each time and I felt like an old lady.

Has anyone had this and managed to quieten it down - I don’t want to spend the rest of my life creaking away like an old ship!!

I'm not sure you can. It's the bubbles in the joint fluid popping isn't it?

I'm early 30s, not overweight, do yoga etc and I click constantly.. Just my joints.

Sorry not helpful but I'll watch to see if I'm wrong and there are magical solutions!!

I have this now at 45. No idea what's happened it was almost overnight. Makes me feel elderly 😂 when I stretch it's just click click click. I know it's not a big deal but it's annoying me know. Don't imagine there is anything that can be done.

I did wonder about yoga not sounds like it’s not helping you Bryce.... So frustrating.

I'm hypermobile actually which I think is the cause of mine, I have large range of motion in my hip joints particularly - are you?

Pilates is the best for joint stability, I do that too.

Yoga is great for you so I'll always recommend it

My 8 yr old does this - so it's not age!!!!

BogRollBOGOF · 02/11/2022 08:09

My toes have always clicked.
Now in my early 40s, I sound like mobile bubble wrap.

I'm active and do a range of cardio/ strength/ flexibility exercise. It makes no difference if I'm on it with my routines or not.

Nothing to do with age, I'm in my early 30s mine crunch and pop 10-20 times a day!

SpaceJamtart · 02/11/2022 08:27

Most of my joints click- like I am made of bubble wrap and glow sticks, I am in my 20s and they have done this my whole life.
I don't find it embarassing as lots of my friends are the same- especially ex-dancers, but then I don't accociate it with advanced age.

The only way mine don't click is by moving the joint slowly and leading with the muscle rather than just snapping up into place. It's more of a yoga way of moving. I don't know if that makes any sense, but the stronger I am the less I click and clunk.

CrunchyCarrot · 02/11/2022 08:29

I don't think this has anything to do with age, OP! I'm 66, not in great health, but no popping joints.
