To think the Child Maintenance Service offer a really poor user experience?

  1. The navigation around the website is crap and not user friendly.
  2. It is tricky to log in with the two unique ids plus NI number. That level of security is clearly unnecessary.
  3. The phone service is insufficiently staffed (waits of up to an hour).
  4. There are vastly different amounts in each notification you receive (Mr McFly will contribute £600/200/400).
  5. What’s with the ridiculous pdf links you need to click on to view any notifications?
  6. The links from the emails are not proper URLs.

And another thing, if Mr McFly is compelled to pay via their “Collect and pay” service, why should Ms McFly and children have to continually pay for this collection service?

What does this service cost us taxpayers and why is it so unprofessionally run?

I gave up with it a long time ago after my ex only had to pay £7 a week; wasn’t worth it, they made a mistake and told me my ex had another child in a letter they sent to me which turned out to be an error 🤦🏻

mynamesnotMa · 01/11/2022 23:29

Not paying for your children should be a criminal offence imo.

LadyMcFly · 01/11/2022 23:35

My ex paid me £7 a week for a long time too.

The CMS told me they would write off any of his payments which were outstanding for more than 3 months. This is unfair if I cannot write off my bills. Someone has to pick them up.

Not to go off on a rant, but I would think the difficulties signing in and navigating the website would put lots of people off engaging.

I haven't had a penny maintenance for ds since the CMS took over from the CSA when ds was 12, I was only getting £5 a week as exh is on benefits.

Yabu. The cms are much worse than you describe. They have so much more power than they are prepared to use.

I was on hold for 28mins yesterday with them. Service is only 8-4, a nightmare when working and have limited time to call them. Ex owed arrears which was taken to court for in Nov 2019, still not paid a penny as now on Universal Credit despite having his own business. A total joke.

Inclined to agree that action should be taken against people who won’t pay for kids. My ex won’t work. I do not get a penny now. Every last penny of mine has gone to children and I have commuted around the clock to feed them.
