What the fuck. It’s not even the same as Strictly, at least they are learning a skill, or trying to.

Guess he’ll be eating a lot of anus! Or whatever the plural is - anui?

KnickerlessParsons · 01/11/2022 13:03

I'll put a tenner on him getting voted for all the tasks the first task 😄

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 01/11/2022 13:06

I’d definitely like to see him do the bushtucker trial 😆

Wishyfishy · 01/11/2022 13:07

Ugh. Sunak right to suspend the whip.

It’s not even the same as Strictly, at least they are learning a skill, or trying to. I don’t agree with this though. Learning basic dancing wouldn’t help him do his job as an MP any better? It’s still just a show for semi-famous people to try and get more exposure and re-start their careers. It’s no more or less appropriate than I’m a Celebrity or any other reality show.
I’d have no problem with him or any other politician doing I’m A Celebrity (or Strictly) but not when they are being paid by the taxpayer to do another full time job.

GreenLunchBox · 01/11/2022 13:08

The UK is a laughingstock

billyt · 01/11/2022 13:09

So serving his constituents as he should be...not!

With a bit of luck he won't come back

Heartstopper · 01/11/2022 13:12

He's not the first serving MP to do this. Why the great angst now?

DearOohDear · 01/11/2022 13:12

Are MPs celebrities? It's scrapping the bottom of the barrel now but obviously I'll be watching Grin

Totally agree - he should have to resign as an MP given that he won't be working for the whole time.

Lapland123 · 01/11/2022 13:14

This is beyond ridiculous- he is being paid to do another job

It's always been fucking ridiculous for serving MPs to do this @Heartstopper

Because he's a Tory.

Personally it's always funny to see someone get heavily voted on for all of the bushtucker trials and you just know a Tory MP is going to be eating a lot of anus and other such delicacies.

thebellagio · 01/11/2022 13:15

I see the logic - if you want to appeal to the masses, you need to go to where the masses are. I'm a Celeb gets a lot higher viewing figures than something like Question Time.

The issue is that he's paid to look after people in Bury St Edmunds. He's local to me, but not my MP. If my MP was to piss off to the other side of the world for 3 weeks and be uncontactable, I wouldn't be happy.

Many of his constituents know him for the complete tit he is, & even set up some social media ripping the piss out of his Matt Hancock Website.

I kid you not. The man created a website named ... after himself.

He's had the whip suspended for signing up to Celebrity.
He really is the Alan Partridge of politics, isn't he?

Hobbesmanc · 01/11/2022 13:48

I think Nadine Dorries was suspended? But she was back in cabinet anyway.

kickupafuss · 01/11/2022 13:50

I won't be watching it with him in it!

DomesticShortHair · 01/11/2022 13:51

After being voted for every single bush tucker trial (certainly by me, at least), it’ll be a case of:

“In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the liar weeps tonight”

I am no fan of matt hancock, but that's the most normal thing in the world for mps, why would you not have your domain name as your nameConfused

EmmaDishwater · 01/11/2022 14:08

The pay issue is offensive.

MPs seem to be this unique group that can behave as badly as they like, perform poorly at work and be upfront about their lack of work ethic and integrity and yet somehow be completely protected from the consequences that would befall the rest of us in similar circumstances.

Fair point @Trqpe & I wish I could remember more about the parody accounts taking the piss out of it. iirc, something to do with the video freezing on "hi I'm Matt Hancock" in a very Alan Partridge style, & Hancock using it the website to promote himself & his other business interests, rather than his constituency.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 01/11/2022 14:10

Why wasn't the whip removed from Boris for all his holidays?

^This.

Oh, and Matt Hancock also has a book coming out.🙄

Vitriolinsanity · 01/11/2022 14:12

He will be eating A LOT of very unpleasant stuff.

Livetoplay · 01/11/2022 14:14

I was a little bit sick in my mouth when I read that. I hope he keeps his shirt on.
