To want to swap perfumes

Extrapepperoni · 26/10/2022 07:24

Posting in AIBU for traffic. Bought a 50ml bottle of Tom Ford's Noir de Noir and not loving it. Looking to swap with someone who has an open bottle they splurged on but don't love either! Obvs I have preferences but maybe the barter economy has a solution! Any takers?

Try your family and friends?

Extrapepperoni · 26/10/2022 08:24

Have done. They'd happily inherit the bottle but don't have a swap.

Try selling on Facebook then.

I’m not sure starting a Swap Shop on MN for perfumes is a great idea. 🤔

YABU

You can't garentee what you are going to get and there's no comeback, so you'd be possibly giving it away. You'll just have to use it.

Ha!

InsomniacVampire · 26/10/2022 08:34

Are yo uon any other social media? There are various perfume groups on FB or so, you could try swapping there.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 26/10/2022 08:35

You could sell it on Vinted

TruffleShuffles · 26/10/2022 08:37

Have a look at skincare selling sites on Facebook, you always see people selling perfumes and they get a decent price. You may even be able to get a swap rather than just selling it.

SparklyShoesandTutus · 26/10/2022 08:38

Just a heads up, you can not post open perfume. Has to be in sealed packaging

whumpthereitis · 26/10/2022 08:38

look at the Fragrantica message boards. They have a subforum for perfume swaps.

Yup with a special sticker from the post office

MissBattleaxe · 26/10/2022 08:46

Just a heads up, you can not post open perfume. Has to be in sealed packaging not quite. I often sell perfume on eBay that has been sprayed a few times and as long as it's in its original packaging ( or securely packed so it can't break) then it's fine.

OP- you can sell used perfumes on eBay. Just use the New-other category and explain a few sprays are missing. I do it all the time. Also, I would advise against Vinted because the prices are so low. You may get a bit more on eBay but make sure you don't accept offers from abroad as you can't post perfume out of the UK without a special license.

Also, wander over to the Mumsnet friendly perfumistas thread.

MissBattleaxe · 26/10/2022 08:48

and yes, tell the post office it's perfume and they put a sticker on it.

WhiskersPete · 26/10/2022 08:48

YABU for spending that much on a perfume without being absolutely sure you love it.

Awesome suggestion, thank you!

And @WhiskersPete you're right, total numpty for not going with what I actually preferred and being swayed by DH's opinion

@Extrapepperoni you won't be the first or the last to get buyer's remorse on a blind buy. Be careful on fragrantica as it's hard to tell who lives abroad and you can't post perfume abroad.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 26/10/2022 22:26

I love noir de noir :)
