My 16 year old is my middle daughter. I love her very much. But I'm not sure we have the strongest of relationships. It has always been a bit fraught and I even had the most debilitating postnatal anxiety when she was a baby (not that I could stop going for one minute!). It lasted for a year and was the worst time of my life.
She has many wonderful points, and I really do try so hard, but we clash constantly. Or she clashes with me anyway! I'm on my own and it's really getting me down. I'm a big believer in talking and open (calm!) communication, but nothing changes.
I get on with my eldest daughter extremely well. Youngest is at an awkward teen age again, but is kind of in between the other two.
It breaks my heart to think that it might just always be this way with my beautiful middle girl. But I had the horrifying realisation tonight that we have never been extremely close. And I don't know how to fix it.
