to think my Mirena coil was a mistake?

I'm 59, five years or so post menopause.

Never had a moment's gynae problems until last February. A small bleed and I'm on the gynae pathway. Intravaginal ultrasound found polyps, then a hysteroscopy and polypectomy and biopsy under general anaesthetic. All clear.

Same happened again this year, still awaiting biopsy results 3 months in. I had been using Evorel Conti combined hrt patches. Surgeon casually recommended they pop a Mirena in while they were in, and switch me to oestrogen patches. I consented.

Since then - upsetting acne breakout (seems to have gone).

A bout of localised thrombo phlebitis ( 2 GPs, neither worried).

And last 3 days nagging kind of period like lower abdominal pain. No bleed or sickness etc.

Only researched Mirena after it was done (was about to go into theatre when it was casually remarked on and I was persuaded to agree).

Reading about ghastliness of removal.

Have I screwed up here? 😕

I hated mine. Had every side effect going. However, removal was a doddle! Took seconds.

Were you actually 'persuaded to agree' or was a treatment plan recommended by a professional and you consented? If you believe they acted unprofessionally, speak up.

Removal is generally easy and fast! If you're not happy, ask for it to be removed and be persistent. Not every HCP wants women to decide what they can do with their body but it is YOUR choice.
