Sometimes on here? When there's a thread and you give advice and support and help and the OP just ignores you or doesn't thank you for the advice, do you think sometimes "why should I bother"? This isn't about any particular thread, just in general.

People don't have to take your advice or find it helpful though.

autienotnaughty · 23/10/2022 21:36

It's advice. It's optional. Perhaps you prefer people to do as they are told? Maybe work in a prison?

lentilly · 23/10/2022 21:37

This isn't one of those books where you decide the way the story goes.

pewtypie · 23/10/2022 21:40

YANBU. I keep advice to a line or two.A lot of people get too invested.

InvincibleInvisibility · 23/10/2022 21:41

But you might be helping hundreds of other people reading it? Ive certainly used lots of advice posted on here to other people!

alexrussell26 · 23/10/2022 21:42

Feck, yes! But way above my paygrade...
I think I just need to be clearer what I am saying and a lot more sensitive about how I word things..
I am new, I am a bloke, I have gotten it wrong.

Yes I know that but it's a bit galling when, for example, someone says the exact same thing you did but just in a different way and the OP falls over themselves to thank them and you think "hang on, I just said that". Maybe it's just me. It's not a big deal anyway.

I don't expect thanks but I do find it weird when several posters give the same advice and the op totally ignores them ( I'm not talking about troll posters).

Divebar2021 · 23/10/2022 21:46

I think some of the posters in style and beauty could do with some better manners. They pose the question “ can you find me am outfit for an event” and provide vague details. Posters post gazillions of links but the OP doesn’t come back or doesn’t comment on them. Seriously find your own outfits

I haven't seen that section of the site. But I know exactly what you mean about posters not returning to threads when they ask a specific question, is it just a waste of everyone's time?

But the advice ones are the rude ones IMO, when someone asks for help and then you provide help and then they just ignore it or don't respond.

That could just be because they can't answer everyone.

Yes but if you said it first.

@autienotnaughty have you ever been in a prison 🤣🤣🤣🤣

autienotnaughty · 24/10/2022 05:59

Tbf no but I do hate it in real life when people give advise and then get annoyed if you do things differently. Advice isn't telling someone what to do and none of us reign supreme and should feel like they know better than everyone else.
