To asset that the crinkle cut versions are superior to their flat counter parts??

For example, all of these in the crinkle cut (or ridge) form are the BEST

  • Chips
  • Crisps
  • Gherkins
  • Beetroot

I find the crisps too thick when they are crinkled but the rest I agree with

GloriousGlory · 19/10/2022 19:24

With the exception of beetroot that should not be eaten in any form, because it takes like dirt!

SpaceyCake · 19/10/2022 19:39

Totally! I don't even eat smooth crisps. Yuck. 😆

tattychicken · 19/10/2022 19:41

I don't like crinkle chips for some reason. Chunky smooth steak cut for me. But yes to all the rest.

catandcoffee · 19/10/2022 19:43

Yes to all of them except crinkle crisps they tend to cut my gums 😫

Ladypuggerz · 19/10/2022 19:43

Halloumi! 😋

MarshaMelrose · 19/10/2022 19:43

Jacobs Crinkleys, cheese and onion flavour.

Flangeosaurus · 19/10/2022 19:46

Wait what?

I need to know more about crinkle cut halloumi

I use a crinkle cutter (bought off Amazon) to slice halloumi, brush oil on slices or even chilli jam, honey, herbs etc. and air fry until crispy on outside and gooey on inside!

lightisnotwhite · 19/10/2022 19:55

NO WAY are crinkle crisps better! They’re not even crisp just really hard and a bit dry.

Crinkle chips are nice and a bit exotic ( never had oven chips growing up and don’t eat them now).

Beetroot and gerkins are best whole.

TooHotToRamble · 19/10/2022 19:56

I'm not fussed about crinkle cut crisps unless they are plain, then they HAVE to be crinkle cut. I won't eat non-crinkle cut plain crisps at all. Horrible.

I prefer non-crinkle cut chips to crinkle cut so disagree with you there.

I love gherkins. Not bothered if crinkle cut or not.

I don't like beetroot in vinegar which I'm pretty sure all crinkle cut beetroot is?

PS not sure "flat" is the opposite of crinkle-cut. I tried to go with it for the sake of your thread but couldn't cope with "flat chips" which is just all sorts of wrong.

00100001 · 19/10/2022 20:00

@TooHotToRamble ...What would you call them....if not flat? Smooth?

keeprunningupthathill · 19/10/2022 20:01

💯

dudsville · 19/10/2022 20:03

This is an important topic area that all too frequently goes unnoticed. The crinkle cut adds more surface, and more importantly, it's just plain fun!

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 19/10/2022 20:14

Crinkle cut crisps are thick and horrible.
I always thought crinkle cut chips were horrible too but I accidentally bought them the other day and done in the air frier.. Oh. My. God, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and just perfect.
I’ll eat gherkins however they come, extra on my Quarter Pounder please.
I can only eat small amounts of beetroot r it tastes too ‘earthy’ so I prefer shredded.

starsinyourpies · 19/10/2022 20:16

Only crisps.

HTH1 · 19/10/2022 20:18

Nope, flat every time for me (and never beetroot 😷). Frites or really crispy fried chips are the best (possible exception for crisps is Frazzles but then aren’t they ridged rather than crinkle cut?)

poppym12 · 19/10/2022 20:22

Disagree on every count!

Needmorelego · 19/10/2022 20:41

I have been struggling to get Walkers Cheese and Onion and had to buy McCoys instead. I ate them obviously but the whole time I was thinking "just not as good".
Crinkle Chips I like though.

Snugglemonkey · 19/10/2022 20:44

I disagree. I like gherkins whole and whole sweet chilli baby beetroot from m and s. I do my own chips and so they are just cut with a knife and find crinkle cut crisps are often too thick.

Very interested in this feta idea though!
