My car got hit in a private car park

In England (London). Private car park but not pay and display just a car park near a library. DH thinks nothing can be done no no point in even trying to look at CCTV (might not be any anyway). I didn’t notice till I got home so not spoken to anyone other than DH yet. Any point in pursuing?

I would ask about CCTV and report to the police. It might be a private car park but it's still an offence to damage a car and just drive off.

I used to work in a hotel and were always told never to show / hand over CCTV to guests using the private car park in similiar circumstances. It would be given to the police only so I would contact them first. Honestly, it's probably a waste of time and you'll end up just claiming on your insurance.
