To want a travel cup that doesn't make drinks taste horrible?

Any suggestions for travel cups with lids that still enable you to enjoy the taste of tea or coffee? Not bothered if they are insulated or not.

I've tried several and the plastic or bamboo ones make drinks taste plasticy and the metal ones make them taste a bit tinny.

Actually, my Keep Cup is brilliant for a nice clean taste, but not really spill proof.

Contigo as per PP

Starbucks thermal colour change travel cup with lid. It's plastic and my tea dosent taste funny and won't break! I've been through loads as I'm funny about the taste as well. Bonus is you can tell by the colour when your brews gone cold red for hot green for cold!

The glass keep cup is my best for taste and feel (if you take the lid off it is very nice to drink out of, for a long time it was my preferred coffee cup at home) but it doesn’t keep the drink warm for long and leaks if upside down. Good for carrying a drink around at work, not good for commuting.

I have a metal one which I like and I find the key is using it for one type of drink, not using it for both tea and coffee and not using fruity tea bags which also seem to imprint their taste. I keep it for herby/green teas and it tastes good.

Another fan of contigo however I do prefer my IKEA travel cup,it doesn't leak and doesn't transfer a metallic taste and was half the price of the contigo!

I am a travel cup collector although I have been trying to clear out a bit! I have used contiguous and they are great but I also have sho and they are comparable but loads cheaper. They also have a sale on at the moment so am going to do my Christmas shopping again on there this year. New water bottles for all my nieces and nephews.

Contigo! Oh and have used camelbac too and both are great but expensive.

Frank Green - an Australian brand but looks like they’re available on Amazon. Ceramic so doesn’t taste weird, doesn’t spill and keeps drinks hot for ages. I buy them as gifts for everyone I know!

I also have a nespresso one that is good but interested in the suggestions here. I loathe most travel cups.

Portmeirion have a number of ceramic travel mugs that are nice. I had some Sophie Conran ones for a gift.

I have a glass keep cup with a plastic outer shell to keep it hot, but it’s a fiddle to put together after washing and not leak proof.

turkeyboots · 19/10/2022 06:55

I have a Bubba Cup which I got from Asda. Its ceramic lined and coffee is always hot and tasts good. And it was cheap and doesn't leak.
However tea tastes awful in it.

StamppotAndGravy · 19/10/2022 06:56

I have a glass keep cup for the office because some of the meeting rooms are a long walk. It's nice enough to drink out of as a mug if you take the lid off

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 19/10/2022 06:57

Ooh I thought it was just me (I’m hypersensitive to all sorts because I have autism). The trouble with the ceramic ones is the silicon(?) lid has a horrible texture when hot!

MarianneVos · 19/10/2022 09:26

Ideally I want something that's ok to drink out of when the lid is on too, but it seems that might be impossible!

The ceramic or glass ones seem like they might be the best options for taste then.
