To assume neighbour is annoyed

My neighbor is an older lady, likes to assert herself but is generally really nice. There have been times when she has looked in on my cat while I had to go away for a few days and every now and again gives me something (which I haven't asked for) though she is very insistent. The last few days I've been really unwell, I have had a terrible cough, and flu type symptoms. I had a call from her the other night bc I was coughing. She asked me if I had any medicine. I said yes I had some but she was insistent she bring the one she had up. Reluctantly I took it. This evening I've been coughing again. It seems worse in the evenings atm. She called me again just now and asked me if I had any sweets to suck. I said yes which I did and had one - though she wanted to bring her ones up.

AIBU to think my cough might be annoying her ? I did asked her outright and she said 'no I cough sometimes'

It sounds like she’s worried about you and trying to help.

BamBamBilla · 18/10/2022 21:52

Sounds like she is trying to be helpful

PickAnyName · 18/10/2022 21:53

Sounds like she is being caring

LondonQueen · 18/10/2022 21:57

She is just being motherly.

SassyPants87 · 18/10/2022 21:59

Just sounds like she is concerned about you and cares. I think it’s sweet

Crotonifolia · 18/10/2022 22:02

I don't think she's annoyed, more likely wants to show she cares. Hope you feel better soon.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 18/10/2022 22:03

Is she on her own? If she is she maybe lonely and likes looking after u. It’s sweet.

iwillnotstaycalm · 18/10/2022 22:04

Thanks for the replies ☺️ glad to know it's just my paranoia. She knows my parents passed away over the pandemic and I guess she is just being extra caring - I'm just not very used to it ! Flowers

She sounds like a really caring neighbour and even if the cough is disturbing her she's being really lovely about it and is trying to help you get better. If she's on her own you're probably more important to her than you realise and she'd want you to check in on her if something seemed wrong. I'd drop her in a wee box of buns or something when you're feeling better to say thank you.
