British Bloody Gas Not Turning Up

This is really just to get this off my chest. Background- elderly mum 86yrs lives in 1st floor flat. Came out of hospital a week ago after knee replacement surgery.
Boiler has never been brilliant despite being in flat from new about 10 years.
Anyhoo, boiler packs up on Sunday . No heat or hot water. Mum gets frustrated and upset (on top of pain etc from surgery ). I decided to sign her up with British Gas Repair and Cover. Get same day appointment. Bloke turns up, says it needs a part, will be back tomorrow (Monday). Smiles and relief all round.
Monday (yesterday) comes and goes without a sniff of engineer. I am at work; sister is with mum. This could be unconnected, but they say a British Gas van was parked on opposite side of street for 2 hours in the afternoon with someone sat inside.
I try to get hold of someone at BG -this is like finding a unicorn. Best I can do is the on-line chat. I became convinced it isn’t a real person as I am repeatedly telling him same thing- yes she’s vulnerable, 86, post surgery etc etc. Get told via on-line chat an engineer will be coming today (Tuesday) anytime between 8-6pm. Nothing about no show.
Anyway, she gets text 9.30 this morning saying he’s on his way. No fucker shows up after waiting all day.
Mum now distressed and says she doesn’t want BG in her flat.
Going to complain tomorrow and attempt to get back money.
Thoughts?

Definitely complain. We had a situation where our only hot water repeatedly broke. We were without it for months. It got to a point where I made several complaints and they sent the guy out to get the part the same day and totally refunded me. They often outsource work and communication between each part is a nightmare. So sorry to hear what a nightmare it’s been for your mum!
