Pulled a man up about his horrible comments about women's looks!

Aibu to feel really annoyed?
There are three well known TV Women Presenters that host a morning programme that raise awareness of scams and offer consumer advice etc.
People were discussing the problems on Facebook. A man comes on and starts running the presenters down which had nothing to do with the conversation.

He was saying they were hags and said get their faces off the TV etc.
I responded by calling his comments unnecessary, sexist, misogynist etc and wonder what they would think of his face. Also I'd reported his comment.
He just came back and laughed. Typical response when you can't think of anything.
Aibu to feel annoyed that a man comes on a thread where people are discussing the cost of living and consumer issues/things to look out for and comments on women's faces???
The downside of social media. Grrr.

Did they shut him down

SleeplessInEngland · 18/10/2022 10:29

Welcome to the internet. Hope you enjoy your stay.

girlfriend44 · 18/10/2022 10:45

He also responded when I said it was nasty and sexist that he would say the same if it was a man we won't ever know that.
He's actually missing the point that he dosent need to comment on people's looks at all who are presenting a programme.

Social.media is choc full of people like this . It makes them feel big and important. They probably wouldn't dare say it in real life.
He's probably got a tiny willy😅

HappyHamsters · 18/10/2022 11:02

Was it Rip off Britain, which episode.

Of course he wouldn't say the same if it was a man. The liar!

YANBU

HappyHamsters · 18/10/2022 11:06

Which episode

CountZacular · 18/10/2022 11:15

I think you would be hard pressed to find any public post on Facebook that didn't attract a shitty misogynistic comment if there's a woman involved (and actually in some cases when there isn't).

There's a sizable minority of men that can't help themselves. I used to think call them out so they'll get the picture, but they already know better. Now I just think block/ ignore and move on.

ClaireEclair · 18/10/2022 11:26

Not the point but I know the TV show and all three ladies are beautiful and always look so elegant. I could listen to Julia Somerville all day.

Obki · 18/10/2022 11:27

Well done for speaking up, OP. The only thing necessary for the triumph of misogyny is for good women and men to do nothing. (To paraphrase a famous saying).

ThatshallotBaby · 18/10/2022 11:31

You did the right thing @girlfriend44
Did you have any supportive comments?
Well done you.

7Worfs · 18/10/2022 11:34

Online trolls are best ignored, they love attention. Just report and move on, otherwise the conversation gets completely derailed.

Of course he wouldn’t say the same if it were a man. He’s just yet another misogynistic cunt who think women were put on this earth merely for men’s pleasure. Ugh.

KatherineJaneway · 18/10/2022 11:46

You played right into his hands. Guys like this love being provocative and riling people up. I bet he was thoroughly enjoying himself that you bit back.

Next time you see one like him, simply block and carry on as you were.

Gloryofthe80s · 18/10/2022 11:56

I hope you told him to be kind.

It’s annoying but rule no 1 of social media is: don’t feed the troll

I agree with this.

dottypotter · 18/10/2022 15:44

Would he like someone saying that about his wife one day?
No self control some people?

mondaytosunday · 18/10/2022 15:59

I'd have ignored him. He knew he was baiting everyone and you went for it.

IglesiasPiggl · 18/10/2022 16:05

When men people have nothing constructive to say, they often resort to taking people down by picking on looks, race, size etc. They are inarticulate insecure twats who are best ignored.

SnowFir · 18/10/2022 16:13

He just came back and laughed

I call it the giggling twat emoji. Often used by people who've had their twatty behaviour pointed out and can't defend themselves so just do the giggling twat emoji. They are just demonstrating they're thick and nasty. A winning combination

Mentalpiece · 18/10/2022 16:35

He's probably got a face like a smacked arse op, and on the basis of not being able to pull, he decides to pull women down.
Insecure gargoyles are like that.

Ffsmakeitstop · 18/10/2022 16:49

We were watching some government thing yesterday and there was a woman speaking, no idea who, and DH said "she looks like a horse" and our dd who is usually very quiet said to him "you do know she's not there for your entertainment" I was so proud. He shut up so that's a win.
