To ask how to make money from blogging?

Shamelessly posting in AIBU for traffic. I need some money and as I'm a carer for a dc with disabilities I need to do something from home. I love travelling mostly from my armchair and have a niche area - think along the lines of kosher tourism. I was thinking to start a blog/website where I talk about different places I've been to and could recommend. I think there is an audience for this.
What I need to know is how to go about maximising my chances of making money. I have a fair amount of time to dedicate to this and I think I would enjoy the process.
Any advice or recommendations would be very welcome.

Unfortunately it's very hard to commercialise blogs as you need significant traffic so it's lucrative for people to organise. So you'd need a lot of social media volume to send to blog. How would your blog be discovered and hosted?

Can you write articles and send them to an existing publication and be paid that way?

To advertise * not sure why that said organise sorry

Blogs are really on their way out. I don't think many people make money from blogs anymore, it's more instagram and the likes, which doesn't lend itself to what you want to do as well. Also, you have a very finite amount of content, and since you are struggling financially you won't be able to create more content is it's based around travel. You are also unlikely to attract the typical Youtube watcher as they tend to be very young and not interested in your content, so I don't think making videos and posting them there will help much either.

Do you have a large social media following at the moment, or are you very active and well known on forums where your interest is shared? If so, you might be able to gather some interest, but you will need thousands of readers/followers to make any real money on it.

If you are very good writer and have relevant education you can perhaps look into doing proof reading. It won't make you millions, but it could give your economy a little boost.

Thanks all for the advice. Perhaps blogging is not the way to go, which is a shame as it's something that I'd enjoy.
@Snoken I already do a bit of academic proofreading, it's mind numbingly boring though 😕

If you enjoy doing it you should! But it's just very hard to commercialise. I have a wellbeing blog ☺️

They make money through affiliate marketing and partnerships. You could do the same on Instagram

Although blogging might be on the way out as a money spinner, it's still an important part of SEO. Consider writing blogs for other people, through a freelance website or similar.

Blogging on its own isn’t what it once was but it still has its place in supportive marketing and SEO. So if you enjoy it, go for it. Then once you’ve got a good bulk of content (ie more than one post!) and routine going then start exploring how to link it to other things.

I think you’d need to do something alongside a blog to stand any chance of making even a small income.

Tiktok is really where it’s at now in terms of making money as a creator or influencer. You could look at some TikTok travel accounts for inspiration.

To run a successful blog you’ll need exceptional SEO knowledge, as well as a solid social media presence on TikTok/Instagram and potentially it could even be worth investing in a paid search strategy.
