AIB oversensitive? Cancer, chemo and family

Please help me make sense of this?

My mum and stepdad are both unwell and will be starting to have chemotherapy at pretty much the same time as each other soon.

I have two younger siblings, both are my mum and stepdad’s children. My dad died when I was a baby, so stepdad is the only father I’ve known. I’ve never really fitted in with my family. They tolerate me but I don’t think they really want me around much and my mum has said things in the past about life being easier if she hadn’t had me.

Now they’re ill and I’ve been doing everything I can to help. They’re about two hours away from me, but I’ve been taking time off work to take them to appointments, and keep up with their housework. But I also work with lots of young people, so now they’ve told me I’m not allowed to visit when they start chemo in case I make them ill.

My siblings work in public facing roles too, but they are going to be allowed to visit.

Am I being over sensitive to think they just don’t want to see me?

Well you can visit but do it covid style - in garden with masks?

Coughingnotcovid · 13/10/2022 23:27

I suggested that, but they said no.

I’m sorry OP but they don’t sound very nice at all. Perhaps you should let siblings do the brunt of caring for them.

They don't want to see you, unless its to do something they need or want. Time to step back
