Second child, I can't remember my first being as crazy! He's just so so active and frustrated at not being able to move like he wants. I think.

Did I scrub this phase from my mind?!

I found 6-10 months the hardest with DS. He was commando crawling before he could sit and did not want to be still, he was in everything but didn’t want to be left at all either. I was knackered. He walked at 11 months and we could do more and it got easier.

Mrmoody · 12/10/2022 17:25

I've just had the 24 hours from hell with ds 8 nearly 9 months so totally relate 🙃

freshflowers2 · 12/10/2022 17:25

Haha. Mine is exactly the same. 2nd child (2 boys) and he's CRAZY. Just keeps kicking and wiggling frantically allllll day. I can't wait til he can crawl and walk - know it's harder in some ways but at least they're not frustrated anymore. I did find it easier with my 1st once he was mobile, despite warnings to the contrary from my mum.

Tiredeyes84 · 12/10/2022 17:29

My DS is 9 months and been incredibly fussy lately. I'm typing this as he's napping in the car outside the house after a stressful afternoon out! It's nice to have a bit of quiet time as I'm pooped! I'm thinking it's just a really fussy phase, but hoping it gets better soon.

Derbee · 12/10/2022 17:31

What an awful thread, and awful way to talk about your baby.

TheVanguardSix · 12/10/2022 17:34

Why isn’t he crawling at this stage?

MrsDoyle351 · 12/10/2022 17:35

How old is your baby @Derbee ?

TheVanguardSix · 12/10/2022 17:36

Sorry. Let me rephrase: Let him crawl like mad! All of mine crawled at 5 months. Put him down on the floor and let him go (with a good eye kept on him, of course). At this age, he should be crawling and burning that energy.

ThisShitsBananas · 12/10/2022 17:38

Nooo I love the baby stage. My 8 year old on the other hand…. Most irritating person I’ve ever met and can’t wait till she’s older.

Himawarigirl · 12/10/2022 17:39

It’s a tough age. They’re on the cusp of doing so many things but can’t quite do any of them and it’s like they’re aware of it and it’s driving them mad. A lots of things become a blur but it’s a stage I do remember with all three of mine.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/10/2022 17:40

Yep. Same age and he screams in an impossibly high pitch all day long, flipping around all over the place and kicking everything. He wants absolute one on one attention all day which is never going to happen as I have things to do and a toddler at home too.
He's currently asleep and it's bliss.

I'm 100% sure my DD wasn't like this. She was pretty much walking at this age though.

Oh gosh you're right, if he reads this he'll be gutted.

Mrstumbletap · 12/10/2022 17:44

Eegghhh it's the worst but, the frustration they feel as their brains are more developed than their body. They want to walk but can't, arghhh the grizzling! Drove me insane and I hated that age.

I love everything from 2 onwards!

They don't all crawl at this age. Mine was 14 months before she did!

I agree. Walking was my favourite milestone, yes they're more mobile, but that's good in my eyes!

Couldn't agree more. Their bodies need to catch up to their minds I think.
He's so cross with himself

Yeah it's a tough age, I remember telling friends at the time that 9 months was my least favourite age.

@TheVanguardSix This is easily up there with the most stupid pointless posts I've ever seen on Mumsnet.

MinervaTerrathorn · 12/10/2022 18:27

DS was happy crawling, climbing and cruising at that age. Loved his push along walker and the playground. If you have a playground that's safe for crawlers then I'd take them there. DS loved to crawl up stairs and dive headfirst down the slide.

Doowop1919 · 12/10/2022 18:28

9 months was when it got SLIGHTLY easier for us because he was able to somehow float across the room even though he couldn't move yet. Still have no idea how he did it. But the 8 months before that? A total whingebag because he was bored and wanted to move before he was able! Baby stage is haard!

Hugasauras · 12/10/2022 18:35

I'm dreading this stage with DD2 as never had it with DD1. She was a very jolly potato. No interest in rolling or moving, just happy to sit and play. She didn't roll till about eight months! She did eventually crawl at around 11 months and then walked at 14 months. DD2 is 3mo and already moving way more then DD1 was at 6mo and generally seems a lot more interested in moving.
