I'm on supply there, I really enjoy the role, I'm only there a couple of days a week. Started a couple of weeks ago.
However there are a group of 5 or 6 young TAs (all look under 25) who sit at the only table in the staffroom every day, so nobody else can sit there.
They're very cliquey, I have smiled and said hi but they just look blankly at you. Breaktime in there is constant loud conversations about hair and beauty, and gossip. You just get the impression that they dominate the staffroom and they aren't welcoming at all. Or, very loud singing, in your face sort of behaviour. There are one or two older TAs who sit alone.
We get a very generous lunch break so I take it off site.
I'm cordial to them, but I encounter one in lessons and she's never said hello or really acknowledged me. Comes across as pretty uninterested.
I just ignore them really, I did find that it went silent once when I walked in. But it's their problem I suppose.
That's all I can do, ignore and be polite, but it's just annoying how they dominate the staffroom. Would this bother anyone else? Luckily I've spoken a bit to one of the TAs who sits alone and she's friendly and welcoming.
