Wanting a good moan.
We applied for probate over the stated 8 weeks ago.(12 to be precise)
DH spent 3 hours on the phone trying to get through yesterday.
2 hours today.
It keeps saying that you can do webchat we would but that doesn't work.
No one is replying to our emails.
Is it a secret society no one can get through.
Why put a message on if nothing works.

Watching with interest.

Applied for probate approx end April.

About 8 weeks later had an email to say they'd logged the case onto their system.

Heard nowt since.

I've not wanted to phone as I imagined I'd have the same experience as you.

I did a quick Google a couple of weeks ago and I believe it's taking about 6 months.

Good luck!!

I deal with estate cases . It's taking more than 6 months to get probate the 8 weeks turn around is absolute joke and they shouldn't be quoting that .

Honestly I wouldn't waste your time ringing them , just have to sit and wait til you recieve we have cases that were submitted in March and we are still waiting . It's very frustrating for everyone .

You have my sympathies. Counter-intuitively I found the best time to discover that somebody was manning webchat was early on Saturday morning or about 1/2 hour before it shuts.

Probate lost a lot of our correspondence and the HMRC thingy. They decided that they didn't have the HMRC confirmation about 18 weeks into the process, having never mentioned it before.

They kept putting a "STOP" on the file (but they never tell you that they are doing this - you have to contact them and ask).

Good luck. You would think they would bend over backwards to help grieving families, rather than add to the stress of everything.

Sorry to hear this - my DH did his late Mums estate earlier this summer and it took 12 weeks in total - obviously he was very lucky

Hope you all hear soon and it gets sorted

Well at least that has answered my query somewhat. I applied end of May... had email to say further consideration needed 16th July but nothing since. I have tried to phone but no answer after long time. I've sent 2 emails which have been ignored. we have now sold the house and hoping this isn't going to hold it all up! I was asked on the call to give feedback and i sure did! made me feel bit better anyway. very dissatisfied!!

MIL died last year and Probate took a good 6 months. I hope yours is quicker!

Minaldwyn · 13/10/2022 12:46

They will prioritise if a house sale is at stake.I managed to find out it was the Newcastle office dealing with our case. I contacted them by email and was asked to send off the memorandum of sale for the property we had inherited and we got probate within a day of two. The Newcastle office were very efficient and responded quickly to every email I sent

Adventadventures · 13/10/2022 13:32

Oh god this is terrifying we are 8 weeks into probate with a house sale going through. Please god let us be nearer the 12 week mark than the 6 months! It’s great you got yours sorted quickly @minaldwyn but it sounds like a right hassle trying to communicate with them in the first instance by the look of it
