Is this a minor injury? (picture attached)

Hi,

My 4 year old has had 3 falls at school in the last 3 weeks.

First fall- a student pushed her and the fall resulted in a cut and grazed knee and 3 weeks on, it is not fully healed.
Last week, she was running in the school yard and tripped on a student's foot (see picture of injury). I was told this was minor however, the following day she woke up with swollen lips and found eating a little uncomfortable due to the cuts.
Today, I have just received a message to say she fell again and hurt her head. They said it is minor again.

Outside of school, she never falls or injures herself. She is a very sensible girl. She plays with kids in the neighbourhood almost every weekend. They do a lot of running, bike riding etc. and she is completely fine.

What do I do?

It does look pretty minor - playing in a busy school playground is rather different to playing at home/with one or two friends.

I spoke with her school. They said all students fall and sustain injuries. I'm kind of being unreasonable. She has to be independent and not be hand-held all the time.

Yes it looks minor. And it’s totally normal. Your child may be totally spacially aware but not all kids are!

Pretty minor. She hasn’t knocked out her teeth or suffered a concussion, presumably?

When I was 5 or 6, my teacher told my mum I’d had a ‘little bump on the head’ at school, when she collected me I had the biggest black eye I’ve ever seen that took weeks to go down. I looked like I’d gone ten rounds with Tyson! The black eye happened in October and it was still visible in my school play photos at Christmas. My poor mum having to take me around looking like that for weeks!

I hope your DD feels better, get an ice pack on that.
