Hello, I am just wondering - those in council housing/housing assosations, have you done any home improvements to your home? If so, what have you done and have you asked permission from your landlord? Just moving into mine with my kids and would love to put my own stamp on it. It needs a lot of work anyway. Do they come and do regular house inspections?

I had a HA property & needed to put in a wet room, HA wanted full plans & a quote, even though we were paying, before they'd agree it, despite it being essential.
I believe it depends if/what benefits you're on as to whether they will cover the cost. I know you said you're happy to, but it may be something you're entitled to. I imagine if you have to wait for them to do the work it will take even longer though. Weren't you appointed a housing officer when you applied, viewed, signed all documents etc?

I’m in council, I’ve done the bathroom moved the loo into bathroom (our toilet you had to walk through the kitchen to wash your hands urgh). I have actually had a surveyor come to our house as a repair to a ceiling was needed was very very old. He was so impressed when I showed him what I had done. I revamped the cupboards in kitchens and work top.. I was also told I could have a velux window in our attic. We also added extra insulation to our attic.
However I will say when we moved in if a estate agent was advertising, it would state fixer upper large garden in need of complete landscaping, good opportunity to for experienced DIYer lol 😂 it was a shell. It’s home now.
