to not know what to do with 3yo - sick or angry?

DS is 3.5. Started nursery in September, generally happy and settled.

Last Wednesday he had a fever and cough, it lasted two days and he was ill and sleeping a bit after, within about four days he just had a runny nose. Tried to return him to nursery but he got sent home as was very quiet. He'd been fine at home.

Tried again a few days later and he got very upset and had to come home.

Now he's got no physical symptoms apart from slightly runny nose, he'll be bouncy one minute but then will just sort of run out of batteries and lie down. Often getting really angry when he does. Last night he slept for a few hours then woke up really angry and thrashing around.

He says nothing hurts, he's not holding his ear or tummy or anything.

I don't know whether something is still affecting him physically or if he's just a 3yo or if he's annoyed at being ill. We've got builders in at the same time and dh and I have also been ill so that could unsettle him.

On the other hand I feel like we're taking time off work to be with a boy who's not sick, just angry sometimes! And that letting him stay off nursery might put him off going.

Any ideas? I've got half a mind to see if a doctor would look him over but that seems silly.

I would assume under the weather. Illness plus builders would probably make me pretty arsey! Ear infections, urine infections can make people unhappy, so you could have that in your mind.

I would make the most of the weekend and have a few days of doing absolutely nothing. He sounds exhausted

I would definitely get the doc to check him over to be sure. Does he seem wheezy or run out of energy because he's run out of breath? My DD was like this before going on Inhalers for asthma.

Thanks everyone. Quiet day today and a doc appointment later.

He's not wheezy but I'll bear that in mind, @Hymnulop
