Getting the impression that people on MN often think the worst will happen

Is that just my impression ?

I feel like the worst case scenario in any situation seems to be the overriding one people on here seem to think is also the most realistic outcome of the situation ?

It's like on balance, people seem to think the worst thing that could happen is also the most likely thing that will happen.

Always preparing for the worst ( least likely ) outcome.

YANBU. I expect there is a posting bias because people who don't think the worst aren't posting about it, but instead area getting on with other things. More anxious people think it's worth spending the time discussing possibilities because they think bad outcomes are more likely.

YANBU I commented on one just yesterday where everyone was jumping to massive conclusions about this poor kid. It’s weird being the voice of reason when I have a propensity to catastrophise IRL.
