To expect my DH not to spend hours in the pub with random strangers

DH and I have just bought a new house. Today we were meant to be organising boxes/ unpacking etc.

He went out this morning as he had a bit of work to do (3 hours tops) and he's still not home. He called me from the pub (only after I called him to find out where he was) where he's currently sitting drinking with some random people he's met.

AIBU to be pissed off?

Just go join him? Make some new friends and don’t no all the donkey work alone.

Revolvingwhore · 01/10/2022 17:48

Latching onto an existing group of friends to avoid you isn't exactly an attractive trait.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 01/10/2022 17:49

Eh. I did this when we moved house. It was lovely. Admittedly my husband was with me and we both needed the break! Can you join him?

mountainsunsets · 01/10/2022 17:50

Do you have DC to care for? If not, I'd go and join him.

kiatak · 01/10/2022 17:51

He's been sitting drinking with them for hours. They're all drunk. I don't really want to join them at this point.

If he'd asked me to join him initially then I would have. But, now I feel like an afterthought.

I've read the OP twice now and still can't see where it says he's done that?

It's in the words. Surely you can decipher them? Here are some examples to help you comprehend:

'We were meant to he organising boxes". And also, if you need extra support understanding:

"Random strangers".

kiatak · 01/10/2022 17:58

I'm not sure if it's to avoid me - he did ask me to join them, only after I'd called him though.

And who wants to join a random group of drunk people in a pub anyway?

A man who doesn't want to go home?

Eh? How does that mean he's 'latched' on?

I get that you might not be very good at making friends if you're as patronising in real life as you are on this thread, but seriously, some people are capable of socialising with strangers. Sometimes it's how true friendships are made.

But as I say, it's not something I expect you to know about.

My circle of friends is good enough that I don't have to integrate myself into groups of existing people in a pub.

Have you moved areas ? Or is it just moving house in the same area?

Same area. We have friends here.

I just find this odd. He initially said he'd be home soon (3 hours ago) and then tried to get me to join him. Which he probably knows I wouldn't due to moving things around all day and the fact I have never met these people before.
